SW ROG gathering

We are thinking about resuming the SW ROG gathering March 13th. Tired of staying in our little bubble and ready to see ROG friends again. Will do like last time with everyone bringing their own picnic lunch, drink, and lawn chair. Instead of paying for a pavilion, we will spread out on a grassy area in a park. I have looked at a lot of parks, but would love your park recommendation. More details to come.

This gathering will be in Mesa, AZ on March 13th 12-4 at Red Mountain Park 7745 E Brown Rd Mesa

I know several RW owners are in Tucson, Yuma, Lake Havasu, etc but have had no offers for hosting. Would love to visit your areas. We would love to have TX & CA join us, but you may want to plan a gathering in your state.

36th Annual 2021 Florida RV SuperShow, set for Jan. 13-17 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, is still a go. We are looking for owners in the Tampa, Florida area that might be interested in helping at a ROG information table. The table will be in the area of the Redwoods that will be on display. This would be a good opportunity to greet potential new Redwood purchasers and introduce them to ROG. You can talk to them about why you love your Redwood! If you are interested in participating, please send me a PM and we can discuss it more.

SoCal Gathering

Calling all Redwood owners wintering in the Coachella Valley and Borrego Springs. Come join your fellow owners for a lunch and a social gathering. Proposed date - Sunday 4th March 2018 Proposed location - La Quinta Old Town Scope - Lunch at the Grill on Main followed by a visit to La Quinta Brewing Old Town taproom, which has a pleasant patio, where we could set up a few tables together. If there is an interest in gathering with coaches, we are at Indian Waters RV Resort & Cottages in Indio from Feb 1st to Mar 28th. I am open to suggestions for alternative locations and/or dates. Proposed Mar 4th is early March and before the tennis starts.

Tampa RV Show

Morning ! if anyone is headed to the Tampa RV Show Jan 18~22, stop by and say Hi. I will be with Comfort Ride Hitch in the booth. We are in the Arena Building , Booth A-14 it's currently 12 degrees here in Maryland so I'm hoping the jacks will come up on Friday morning ......... Looking forward to somewhat warmer weather for a couple weeks.

Pacific Northwest Lunch

We are scheduling a Pacific Northwest lunch for members on both sides of the border on Monday 21st November. Location will be the Bellingham to Burlington area, close to I-5. Start time will be Noon and exact location will be selected, based on the number of attendees. Judi and I will head down for the day. Who else is interested in joining us for a social event. Please note the date change to 21st November.

Lake Livingston Retreat

B) I know my wife and I are new to the group but not new to full timing in an RV. We would love to get to know more of the redwood owners as a soon to be redwood owner myself. We have a camp in a gated community on the north end of Lake Livingston in Texas. We have a standing open Invitation for Redwood owners that if you want a place to stay for a few days (up to a week), We have a spare full hookup in my second driveway for someone. I find that I really enjoy other RV's company who are close or at retirement age and here is an opportunity to stay someplace free of charge for a week next to a large lake. You can even bring your boat if you have one. The gated community I live in has a lake front boat dock and marina that I am sure I can finagle a way for you to use. Regardless there is a public boat dock less than a mile from my drive. Here are a couple of pictures of my camp place. The street is asphalt up to my driveway and the driveway is 1" limestone rock. The slab under the awning now has my Crossroads Cruiser on it but will soon have my Redwood. 237,238,239

Boondocking Rally

I want to quickly share my experience at the Boondocking Rally at the North Florida Fairgrounds I attended this week. The rally was put together by Howard and Linda from RV Dreams which mainly caters to full time RVers. It was a very informal event generally designed to simulate a boon docking experience but in a controlled way so people could see how their rigs performed and learn about what best to do to extend your ability to go to places that don't necessarily have full or even any hook ups. I want to tell you I was very pleased with how my 38FL performed. Anyway, a couple take aways and a quick synopsis.

We were very comfortable for 4 days and could have gone another 2 if we really wanted to. We really didn't scrimp on much other than water consumption but only because we used our shower head that has the on/off valve. We still washed dishes, took showers every day and just used the sinks as needed with care.
There were a total of 28 rigs including 3 Redwoods. There were also 2 Airstreams, 2 DRVs, 2 Tiffins, 2 Bighorns, 2 Horizons and a number of other singles, but Redwood took the prize being the only rig type that had 3!
We arrived with full house batteries (400 Ah Flooded Lead Acid) and full lithium stack for our whole house inverter (another 400 Ah). We used the 200watt solar panels to keep both sets topped off and only ran a generator once on the last morning because we ran down the lithium stack during the party the last night
Got hands on experience with a water bladder, a first for me, even though I've had a grey water tote for a couple years. Think I will get one, could come in handy.
One of the Redwood's was the current owners of Dave & Ginny's old rig. They have been traveling in it now for about a year and really like it. How funny is that!
Was introduced to a relatively new website for reviewing service centers. The UI is pretty basic and the content is limited, because it is just starting, but I think it has potential. I know a lot of people were interested in something like this at last years rally.
Took the chance to do some PM including running the generator just to run it since it hasn't been run for more than a month, fill the flood batteries with water and give the solar panels a good clean. Not much to do at the fairgrounds :unsure:

Over all I can say we were happy we attended and would go to another to see the great people we met at this one again. It also felt really good to get confirmation that we are on the right track and our rig is really ready to roll and handle boon docking situations comfortably and we are set to take off for our grand adventures that await.
