Hi everyone,

We are Tom and Gina from North Texas! Originally from way up North MN and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Moved here around 10 years ago and lived in our 07 Montana 3400RL for 5 of the last ten years. My work takes me once a year to WI now for three months a year. So with that said over the last 2 years we have been considering a class A motorhome off and on. After crunching the numbers we went back to looking at toy haulers knowing we would have to give up livability for the ability to haul our Motorcycle with us. Then while looking at the new toy haulers at Explore USA in Denton, TX. I walked by a Redwood and saw the hitch on the back.... hmmmm there is and idea to ponder. Getting home I happened to bring up RV trader and got to looking at the Redwoods and found a 2015 front living room model for sale. Well we went and looked at it but it didn't grab us like we had hoped, beautiful rig but just didn't grab us like our Montana floor plan. As we returned across the lot we saw a rig sitting in the service area and the sales lady mentioned they just had the 38GK traded in and it was dropped off the night before for detailing. So we took a look see and WHAMMO love at first sight. So a couple of days later we are the proud new owners of a new to us 2014 38GK nicely optioned out. Looking forward to going into retirement and having this crown jewel of a rig. As we head into a campground now we know what the meaning of glamping is. Thanks to everyone on this sight for the knowledge and experiences shared. I have already learned a whole lot of information about our new to us RW.

Had an 07 Montana 3400RL ourselves! Probably one of the best and trouble free RVs we had. Congrats on the Redwood and wishes for years of good service!

I was not so fortunate with our 3400RL Atom. We special ordered ours the Late Fall of 2006 took delivery in November. The first week we had it a big storm came through and leaked into the cabinets in the super slide which we did not find until the damage was done. From there it went on a gradual downhill. One thing I can say is Keystone did help me with most of the parts and me doing all the labor. This was a couple of months before the factory was shut down for a drug ring investigation and illegal alien problem. heard they emptied the factory of workers to the point of having to shut it down. This is where I learned to work on it myself. Which is one of the first things I will do with this new rig. 1. Fix the dreaded stress crack by the bedroom slide out. Then add some other things like surge protector and some solar panels I have in storage.

Oh wow, I never heard about the roundup at Keystone!

Sorry to hear you had issues on that 3400RL, just goes to show no two units are the same it seems. We enjoyed many of the great features on the Redwood over the Montana, such as the disk brakes, side by side W/D, dishwasher, and island kitchen. We did have some suspension issues on the Redwood, some leaks and breaks, but nothing overwhelming when I do the work myself.

True story the last major thing to go bad. Was the black water tank splitting on the top seam. After a couple of black water bathes. I replaced the tank only to find out they left the drill plug from the top of the tank in the tank which explained why it never drained properly.

Yesterday we stopped in to visit our local RW dealer whom is now carrying Grand Design, Landmark and Montana fifth wheel units. We looked at the 2017 Montana 3820FK and 3950BR ("Luxury Fifth Wheel" units). Both are nice. The 3820FK has a side by side washer and dryer closet similar to our RW however within a very roomy walk through bathroom. The 3950BR has a loft area over the nice sized bonus/office room. Overall both units are nice however as we headed home we concluded that our 2013 36RL layout is great for us, is actually as nice or nicer unit and still very young in mileage (3,500 miles). Given we upgraded the suspension with MorRyde heavy duty, installed Titan disc brakes and replaced the E tires with 17.5 inch H rated wheels/tires, installed the Splendide washer and dryer units, Fisher Paykel dishwasher, Onan gen and Wingard SWM3 sat we are happy with our RW. With nine months in covered storage per year the roof and exterior are in like new condition. Our RW is aging better than me!!
