I have the 3 door Whirlpool Resd Frig in my 2017 39MB that has the straps for Frig travel door lock our holder. I have seen several better mouse trap setups on many other models any suggestions on upgrading to regular latches or Brackets that lock the doors? Suggestions where to purchase also. Pictures would be great if you have any
Thanks

We also have the whirlpool three door fridge. We have a T-shaped handle and a bracket mounted inside the doors that works very well. It has a redwood logo stamped Into it so I would think it should be available from them.

Simple piece of 3/8 ply. We covered it with black felt.

Ken - I like that ! Does it keep the doors closed firmly or is there some movement in the frig doors when underway ? At this time, we use a large piece of foam on the freezer drawer as it compresses against the island and some Velcro on the frig handles but they can still work open a bit on a rough road.

Oh - and the reason Redwood got away from the fancy Redwood logo closer was that apparently there is a refrigerant line that runs up the middle and after the third time they had to replace a frig because of the hole that was drilled the lock was discontinued. That cam from Tim Cress, the GM when I asked him about getting one.

On our 3-door Whirlpool, we wedge a pool noodle as far as possible down between the refrigerator handles, and put a split pool noodle on the freezer door handle. That prevents any damage or opening of the freezer and most of the time keeps the refrigerator doors closed. So far it’s worked far better than the locking contraption that came with the rig.

I apologize as we didn't have the residential fridge in our Redwood, but the lock we have now is sheer genius and I think it could be fabricated for the Redwood. Its a wood handle that rotates up for use and down for lock, on a long rod with a spring that is attached to the top of the fridge. Just pull out, rotate, let go. The bottom freezer is just held closed with a tab attached to the upper door that just swings out of the way.

Vaughn,

The refer handles are tapered so when I drop the plywood in, it’s snug against all 3 doors. In 20,000 miles, it’s never opened

I do use explandable curtain rods to hold things in place during travel. I normally just use 2 per shelf.

Went to the New Orleans RV Show yesterday and was pleased to see a Redwood in the show. Also saw these gadgets to keep the residential refrigerators closed. Couldn't find any markings on the clear plastic ones, thought they might be a command product but couldn't find them on their website. The SS one is available on Amazon. Search Lamp SS304. Hope this helps.

Brilliant! Your post sent me down an Amazon rabbit hole with great results. Just search for Baby proof latch!
I saw all kind of workable solution to the strap and the broomstick. Just deciding which way to go and order in for our trip next month. Thanks!!!!

I’m going to try these

This seems to work and is a great simple solution. The ones on the freezer are pretty much hidden. I may move the catch on the doors. This is sooo much easier than the dreaded strap. I have pulled hard and it seems to stay put. Will find out for sure on our roadtrip in a couple weeks.

How did they work? I should finish the change out to the Samsung RF18 this weekend and wondered how well these worked?
