ROG Forum & Facebook Group Rules and Etiquette

Introduction

The Redwood Owners Group (ROG) is a non-profit organization started in 2015 for the owners of fifth wheel vehicles manufactured by Redwood RV. While planning for the inception of the ROG, a Facebook Group was initiated in December 2014, with the intent of reaching out to Redwood owners to inform them about the ROG. On starting the ROG website in Spring 2015, we implemented a parallel discussion forum on the website.

ROG is responsible only for the content on its forum, located at www.RedwoodRVowners.com, and its Redwood RV Owners Group Facebook Page, located at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1528050034131921.

The Facebook Group, as only a discussion group, does not provide the services available on the ROG website which includes the Technical Library – manuals, drawings, search engine, common problems & solutions, etc. The ROG website is also the only location to sign up for the annual rally.

We encourage all Facebook users to check out the website and join the ROG.

Discussion Forum & Facebook Group

Members of these group are happy owners of Redwood luxury fifth wheel vehicles, manufactured by Redwood/Crossroads RV, or those that are interested in this high-end four-season coach. We enjoy meeting, chatting to and learning from other fellow owners. Please ensure your posts relate to Redwood or related products. As per the rules and etiquette, all off-topic posts may be deleted by a Moderator.

This is intended to be a helpful and friendly group, providing owners an opportunity to receive assistance from other owners, or potential owners. It was not started as a repository for negativity.

We encourage the following types of posts:

  • Questions about your RV or any installed equipment
  • Issues and/or problems experienced
  • Positive and/or negative comments about your Redwood, provided negative comments are factual and respectable
  • Suggestions for improvements in the brand
  • Modifications you have made
  • Comments or reviews on dealers, provided they are factual and not libelous
  • Any dealer may respond to technical questions or provide advice/suggestions to technical issues.

General Posting Rules & Etiquette

These rules and etiquette apply equally to the ROG website discussion forum and the Redwood RV Owners Group Facebook Group. We kindly request you read them before posting and adhere to them at all times.

The RVing community comprises a group of owners who like to share information and seek knowledge and experiences from fellow owners. Both the forum and Facebook Group are operated to provide information and sharing members good and bad experiences. We always hope to hear reports of good experiences, but provided you relate the facts, without putting down Redwood, you are welcome to discuss some situations or experiences that need improvement. However, if you have a desire to send them a “flame rocket” this is not the correct repository for your issues.

Note: β€œThe Forum” means the ROG website forum and the Facebook Group discussion page.

Please be guided by the following rules and guidelines when posting:

1. The use of foul, abusive or offensive language, which includes, but is not limited to swearing, vulgar or obscene words, is NOT permitted at any time. Using symbols instead of letters or leaving blank letters does not exempt your post from this requirement.

Any post found in contravention will be edited or deleted without notice, at the discretion of a Moderator. A second contravention could result in a 30-day account ban, with further contraventions resulting in a total ban.

The following subjects are strictly taboo – politics, religion, racial epithet or sexually explicate content.

2. No flaming or attacking of other users is permitted. Please respect the experience and comments of others and do not engage in the posting of distracting posts. If you don’t agree with another post, you may politely post why you think their argument is incorrect, providing facts to substantiate your position. Calling them an idiot, moron, etc. is not factual, nor does it advance or substantiate your argument, and will NOT be tolerated. Any flaming or attacking another member will result in an immediate 30-day ban, with any subsequent offense resulting in an immediate permanent ban.

Please accept that many fellow members will have different opinions and that many others may not agree with your opinion. Expressing and sharing numerous well-expressed opinions provides for a healthy discussion and provides a broad range of content for newer members, which is consistent with the objective of sharing information and seeking knowledge from other owner’s experiences. Try to respect the experiences of others and do not engage in distracting posts.

Any post found in contravention will be edited or deleted without notice, at the discretion of a Moderator. A second contravention could result in a 30-day account ban, with further contraventions resulting in a total ban.

3. Replying to someone who posts junk with your own junk is worse than the initial post, as you are then feeding the troll. In these situations, please bring any post you have concerns with to the attention of an Admin/Moderator.

4. The forum shall NOT be used to discuss any ongoing legal action or to elicit support for any potential class action lawsuit, or other legal action.

Any post in contravention will be removed by the Moderators and the poster shall receive a warning. Any subsequent contravention will result in a permanent ban.

5. The forum may NOT be used to harass Redwood, any dealer, service station or vendor of any kind. It is acceptable to post issues, but the discussions must be respectful and based on facts.

Any post in contravention will be removed by the Admin/Moderators and the poster shall receive a warning. Any subsequent contravention will result in a permanent ban.

6. The forum may NOT be used to solicit support for, or to report on any type of “cause”. This forum is for technical discussions and is not to be used as your personal soapbox.

Any post in contravention will be removed by the Moderators and the poster shall receive a warning. Any subsequent contravention will result in a permanent ban.

7. Please endeavour to keep all posts on topic and when starting a thread please ensure you use the correct board. There are many different boards available, with appropriate descriptions. Posting in the correct board ensures the correct members see your message and aides in any future searches.

Messages that are off topic or new threads started in the wrong board will be moved, without notice, by a Moderator. However, the Moderators are volunteers, and this takes up their valuable time.

We further request you do not cross-post any message on multiple boards. Please select the most appropriate board for your topic. Duplicate posts will be deleted.

Off-topic posts may be deleted or moved at the discretion of the Moderators.

8. Please note, forum signatures are subject to the same guidelines and rules as forum posts. Any issues identified will be deleted by a Moderator, without notice. Continued violations may result in user bans.

9. Spoofed user accounts will NOT be tolerated. Any member who creates a user account meant to imitate or mock another user will be subject to having YOUR account banned as well as the spoofed account, without notice.

10. Discussing the price that you paid for your Redwood is expressly prohibited; please restrict any discussion of price to MSRP. Many factors impact the price you pay, including the country. Coaches built for the US and Canadian markets require different standards and on crossing the border, exchange rates become a factor. In addition, delivery costs to the West Coast are significantly higher and few coaches are exactly the same, with different floorplans and options.

Any discussion on price paid will be deleted at the discretion of a Moderator with a warning issued to the poster. A subsequent infraction may result in a ban.

11. Non-constructive and/or excessive criticism being posted regarding Redwood RV, or making statements that could be considered libelous are NOT acceptable. Please do not recommend any other brand of RV, as this is a group for Redwood RV’s.

Any contraventions will be deleted at the discretion of a Moderator, with a warning issued to the poster. A subsequent infraction may result in a ban.

12. Dealers may participate, but may not advertise or attempt to recruit business, or discredit another dealer. Dealers may answer technical questions.

13. We at ROG respect your right to freedom of speech and to form your own opinion about the ROG website discussion forum, the Facebook Group and the associated Moderators. However, you are NOT free to post those thoughts on our sites, if they contravene these rules and etiquette.

14. All decisions of the Moderators are final, and any abuse, excessive criticism or foul language directed at a Moderator will result in an immediate and permanent ban from both groups.

Criteria for Banning Members

This section will summarise the guidelines used by Moderators for banning members:

1.  We will determine how long someone has been a member of the discussion member/group, as new users causing problems tend to be experienced internet trolls. They join forums to create dissension and create havoc similar to viruses. On joining, they make up a story that gets other members all worked up. We will send a private message requesting photographs and suggest they cease the rhetoric and stick to facts. If deemed a hoax and/or rabble rousing continues they will be banned.

2.  Posting repeated statements such as:

  • Redwood is a bad manufacturer – we recognize some coaches have experienced issues, but the greatest majority of Redwoods built did not.
  • Redwoods are poorly built – again some coaches may have experienced issues, but compared to the RV industry as a whole, Redwood is one of the better manufacturers.
  • Do not purchase a Redwood RV – as each potential customer should be permitted to make up their own mind after researching all pros and cons.
  • The above statements also apply to all third party manufacturers that supply components to Redwood.
  • Derogatory comments regarding the actions taken by any Moderator, who volunteer their services to ensure these discussion forums run smoothly and are enjoyable for all owners.

3. Any criteria for banning members, as stated in the posting rules, outlined above.

After the effective date of these rules and etiquette, by posting to the ROG Discussion Forum, or the ROG Facebook Group, you agree to these rules and etiquette and will abide by them.
