Ken - FWIW - I sold ours, working, for $125 and it took three weeks to get rid of. I would see is the Amish Frig guy there in Shipshewana will take it and remove it on your way to Elkhart. Would save some labor $$$ if nothing else.

Ah, one other expense I forgot. Looking at the area around Duncan RV I see a very large train interchange. I don't think we'll be spending the night before there. We are planning on dropping the camper off Sunday afternoon, getting a B&B in the area for Sunday and Monday nights.

That will add $125/night X 2, so $250 to the equation.

Hoping to stay at the same B&B we did when we got the MorRyde IS installed. Nice place, GREAT GREAT GREAT breakfast and really nice people. They even baked fresh home made GF bread and muffins for Gizzi. How nice is that!

Ken...do you already have an inverter set up for powering your new fridge?

Yes I have a 3000watt whole house inverter w/ 975watt solar array and 1200 Ah battery bank.

That is one of the reasons I feel confident I don't need the Norcold anymore even when boon docking.

Well...I guess that would be an additional expense for us! We have the Dometic and had problems with it initially. It's been trouble free for about three years, but when it "goes" we want to replace with a residential. It's such a pain full-timing and not having the additional capacity...as you guys know. Glad you are going to be able to upgrade!

Well you for sure don't need as an elaborate system as ours. I believe the factory uses a dedicated 1000 watt inverter and an extra house battery. Not too expensive I imagine.

Thanks Ken. No, we don't boon dock or use solar at this point. However, after the RallyRound Table...who knows?? ?

Well the replacement is in and looks and works great! Duncan RV did a really good job. It was 5 hours of labor to remove the Norcold and bottom draw, relocate the wiring behind the fridge, seal the vents and install the new fridge. At $120/hour that amounted to $600 install cost. The fridge on Amazon cost $1,260 drop shipped direct to Duncan RV, so total host is $1,860.

The fridge BTW fits perfectly. We used 3M Dual Lock on the top and bottom to secure the doors during transit.

The only snafu was after the fridge was installed we noticed the lights in the kitchen slide didn't work. Took another 2.5 hours to track down a loose connection leading into the slide from the outside. They used a wirenut to connect the cable coming from the breaker panel to the wiring in the slide and it wasn't on securely. I'm not including the additional $300 in the cost of the replacement fridge because that connection would have probably come apart at some point down the road.

Over all we are very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to go back to Duncan RV in the future if needed. Note here that Duncan RV was recently bought out by Gerber Collision & Glass. I just hope they keep the same people and continue to work on RVs well.

Nice! I'm sure it will be the difference between night and day from the Norcold. You'll love it!
