Thanks guys to all of the reply’s to my posted delima. The hardest part of all of this is finding someone who really can tell you the best option for your problem. While I would love to attend the rally and just change out to the IS system which I feel is the best. That does not solve my problem now. And making a 20 hour one way trip is just not possible right now. )Yet changing out to 8k axels seems to be not possible. Been told that by LCI and three different dealers. And I really don’t understand why. So my last most likely option if I repair it at all is to change to the dexter thick wall 7k axels with the moyrde sre 4000. Upgrade to the 17.5 tires and call it done. Very disappointed by all of this. I have owned many fivers in my years of RVing. Never had to deal with anything like this. Thanks guys! Y’all as always are great help.

If I wanted to save a some $'s since I can swap axels myself that is what I would do BUT if I needed to pay someone to swap out the axels, springs, ect I would absolutely spend a few extra $'s and head to MorRyde in IA. and put the IS on and be done with all your worries.

Steve, don’t think it hasn’t crossed my mind. Just know that what should be a 6-8 hour job for me would turn into weeks. Been a day I would have already had it done. But my schedule now makes it difficult. As for saving a little that is always a plus. Thanks for your input.

The frame of the RV is nothing more than a 10" x 3" I-Beam.
No relevance to your point necessarily, but Redwood has always used 12" I-beams over the axles. Only the drop beam section under the forward basement is 10".

GipCtravelers, just wanted to let you know I spoke with LCI personally today. And you are right. There is absolutely no reason why the 8K axels and springs will not work on the Redwood. Same measurements as far as length and width. The only thing different is the springs has an extra leaf which requires a longer ubolt on installation. NOW,,, I am going to work on exploring other options.
GipCTravelers, how can I contact you and speak with you personally?

Ok Guys, just thought I would post my final outcome on the Bent Axels and how I resolved it. While I really wanted to go with the IS system. I could not wait until the Rally to get it done. And the cost to drive up and get it done sooner I had neither the time or the cash to follow through with that option. So I chose the next best option by going with the Dexter 8K axels alone with 4K leaf springs plus the CRE 3000 along with the wet bolt system. Upgraded to the Goodyear 17.5 H rated tires. Certainly feels good to tow with out worry concerning tire or suspension failure. My initial impression is that the 8K axels and springs along with the H rated tires brings a much stiffer ride for the 38GK. But will opt for that over the spongy ride that it use to have. Now if I could fix that crappy AC system that is a total design failure on the REDWOOD i would have it all fixed. Hmmm can't get everything you want can you? Thanks to GipCTravelers for the encouragement and prompting to pursue the 8K Dexter even when many others said it would would not work. He and I both now can prove that it does work without any custom work to make it work. Works great!!

yessir I have already done all of the above mentioned upgrades to the Crappy Redwood poorly designed AC. LOL! It still will not cool from now until late September down in the South. When Temps reach 100 I will be lucky to maintain around 78-82 degrees depending on the day and where it is parked.
