I also keep the coffee maker on the counter, along with glass salt and pepper shakers, and a stainless paper towel holder with it all being there when we stop.. Heck, we stopped emptying the dogs water bowl when we leave( mostly because we forget, but its NOT WET around it when we stop.

We have had our 36RE weighed by SmartWeigh, and the drivers side is 700 pounds heavier. Not surprising since the refrigerator, stove, microwave, pantry are on that side.

Ken & Donna,
So glad you guys are okay! You will love the IS. We had ours done right after the rally last year. It has made a significant difference in the ride. See you soon.

You know it is makes me very sad to think that our Redwoods are having the same consistent problems with our axles and springs. To me it is NOT OK for a company to advertise these units as Residential or made to be lived in and then go the cheapest way out as in using a manufacturer (Lippert) that is more interested in saving a whole .50 cent weld or 25 buck up charge per axle more per unit then the safety of the people using their substandard crap. This tells me that the majority of people that actually use the product they sell are being set up for failure then have the audacity to blame the customer for the problem by showing them over loaded. So does everyone here live off of MRE's and only carry one change of under garments? Heck no, we live in these things!!!

The core group of management that makes the decisions in how these RV's are built should be held accountable personally not be able to hide under the umbrella of the corporation along with bringing about a settlement to everyone from the corporation. As far as I am concerned we never should have had to shell out thousands of dollars in repairs that should have never happened in the first place. Something as fundamental to safety as build quality of the base frame and suspension from the start should be a good place to bring to a court room and jury of our peers to decide if they should be held accountable. It is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt real bad or God forbid killed.

Is it time to seek out an attorney for a class action suit for the misbehaving bean counters? Why should we have to tolerate risking our lives going down the road with such shoddy engineering designed to save a buck and add to some jerks bonus.

I have lost 2 Springs both in the Mobile AL area and all I can think about is how lucky it didn't happen in the bay tunnel at hwy speed. Am I the only one here that thinks it is NOT OK for Thor, Crossroads and Redwood division being able to get away with this behavior? Or are we all going to sit around and say poor me and try to justify in our heads that we should all go blow 5-7 grand redesigning what should have been done in the 1st place?

Sorry to be so hard line but it gets pretty frustrating to sit here and read over and over the issues with safety and how negligent this has obviously become.

Tom and Gina, I totally agree that ownership knows there have been problems from day one. Our unit is a 2015, and of course 2016 they changed to 8,000 lb axles. Now we are expected to fix their manufactured mistake. I'm up for planning a owners time slot to see how many are interested in pursuing legal advice. Count me in, I will be interested in what others may say.

Like so many owners we had to do upgrades to be able to safely live, and travel, full-time in our rig. Our 2012 had all four Marathon Goodyear tires fail, two main leaf springs broken completely through (the others were bent and ready to fail), leaking hub seals on all hubs deminished electric braking efficiency, and pin box failure. We had to invest in upgraded tires and wheels, MorRyde IS, disc brakes, and MorRyde pin box. A lot of money that wasn't programed into our budget. However, the peace of mind is priceless. I'm just thankful that we didn't get injured, or injure any one else as a result of under-engineered components! Don't get me wrong...we love our Redwood. However, had we known about the additional expenses that we would have, we would have done things differently in the purchase process. Redwood has put "fixes" in place for the major items; however, since ours was an early model, we got stuck with the costs.

Better bent than broken. Less expensive to fix the results.

Broken spring on left front spring pack and rear l/r flattened. Called mobile tech Friday and he will hopefully have 4 packs delivered to him on Monday. only got his name for now but RV park next door to CW, Oxford, Alabama. {CW backed up 3 to 4 weeks}

Will post the mobile company after work is done and report on the service we get.

Here due to 2nd cousin with stage 4 cancer and helping with his 10 month old and 2 year old.
His father {1st cousin} left for the Army, the same day I left for the Coast Guard. He got Vietnam, Agent orange, and associated diseases. Of course he is having trouble getting much from the VA. Just PRAY for Charles, Allan and the family GOD knows them.

Thanks

I replaced my bent springs with 4 new 8k springs from Lippert.
They sold me the upgrade. It is one more leaf than the 7k that wer e one the unit. I also got the MorRyde shake and bushing kit. The stock plastic bushings are not good. That 1/2” thick shackle is a manditory upgrade in my book. This includes bronze bushings for each spring and shackle bolt. Lipped also sells the same kit but to get bronze bushing you have to purchase separately. So if your replacing springs you need that shackle kit. The other nice to have is the MorRyde SRE4000 center suspension kit. Rubber spring mount cushion with a center bracket cross bar support. This is a step down from doing a complete IS suspension upgrade, but is very nice upgrade to your unit. Gave me the peace of mind I needed with my 39MB. The ride quality is night and Day. You should also hit the scales and check your axle weight as you are loaded. You need to be sure your are under the 7k rating per axle. Just upgrading springs does not raise your GVW limit of your unit. The IS MorRyde is the ultimate way to go to get a true 8k per axle upgrade . The weld on frame braces and all bracing required to make that upgrade. Just changing springs and axles will not give you the frame upgrade that is needed for 8k suspension. Hope it helps.

We broke the right rear spring a couple weeks ago, about an inch from the rear eyelet. We were 15 miles from the RV park we were heading to. Got a 1500lbs spring from Fleet Farm and was able to get to the park. I took the new spring apart and added 3 leafs from the old spring. The bolt in the center of the original spring had broke so it was easy to add them.

Replaced all 4 with 8 leaf 4000lbs springs, new U-Bolts & new shackles. Also found the rubber spring in the left SRE 4000 had tore. Morryde sent a replacement next day air since our time at the park was getting short. We know the IS is in our future.
