I was curious if any one is running a adapter to go from fifth wheel on trailer to goose neck ? To be able to use a goose neck ball in the pickup ? If so what brand have you had good luck with ?

Have a brother-in-law with that set up. He hates it. He pulls from DFW to Galveston a few times a year.

Think about that length from the bottom of the Pin Box down to the bed of your truck... That's a lot of stretching forward and backward. You will feel a lot of jerking back and forth.

Opt for a B&W turnball hitch. It's great. If you have a short bed, you'll need a slider version. You can take it out whenever you need an empty bead. The head comes off from the body.

The adapter and hitch will run about $1500 (+ or -).

Then, you'll want to look at your Pin Box. Which Pin Box do you have?

(The bottom photo is for the Ram that is already prepped. If you don't have a prepped vehicle, you'll need the crossover as well)

Here is another article on this. Without distributing the weight thru a Pin Box versus the Gooseneck, you also increase the stress and fatigue on the RV metal frame.

Here is a great video explaining torque:

I would suggest changing the pin box out to a goose box. Lippert does not recommend the use of adapters on their pin boxes, and the use of an adapter will void your existing frame warranty if you have one. I would not mess with it.

The Reese Goose Box is the only Goose Neck hitch endorsed by Lippert, our Frame MFR. It totally replaces the Factory Hitch rather than adding an adapter.

I would rather stick with a fifth wheel hitch , but this is going to be for a second fifth wheel smaller than my 3901 , we like camping in rural locations and a lot of places I can’t get this redwood into or really want to. So I have my work truck is a 2016 drw but the bed is in bad shape due to construction work . I have the b & w in it for my trailers . But the looks of the b & w companion would use some of bed to stabilize the fifth wheel hitch , in which a lot of the hitch would not be setting on the bed . I’m going to research the Reese goose box , that may be best option

Check out Andersen Ultimate. Light, just uses the goose ball, and comes in and out in seconds. Not a gooseneck in that it doesn’t change the geometry. $1M waiver should warranty be declined.
