Recently had a very pleasant experience with my Redwood Sequoia hitch at Dan's Service Center in Elkhart, IN. I originally had a Pullrite 5 the wheel slider installed by Tampa RV In Tampa, Fl. It never really worked right with becoming unattached and jamming while backing up. Went to Sarasota Hitch House in Florida and was convinced to purchase an Andersen Hitch. I was pleased with the Andersen but was concerned with how close the nose of my trailer was coming up to my truck cab window. I finally did break my truck cab window and after checking around with others I took their recommendation and took it to Dan's Service Center. They looked at it and said obliviously I need my window replaced first and then bring it back so they could take measurements. I found a place to replace my cab window and then went back to Dan's on a Sunday afternoon. Saw three other RV's parked in the large lot next door waiting for Dan to open Monday AM. We stayed over night in the lot to also join more RV's that came in during the night. One fellow told me that Dan had 18 repairs alreadt scheduled for Monday. Anyways after Dan's opened I had a chance to get Ryan, Dan's son to look at it. He had some ideas but would rather have his retired dad, Dan Miller look at it but I would have to wait to later AM after teaching his DOT certification class for RV delivery drivers. About 11:of AM Ryan came to get me to meet his dad who took me by golf cart to my Sequoia to check things out. He started by measuring several numbers on my truck as well as the trailer. He didn't say much but took it for a ride around the lot doing verious backup maneuvers. After that he suggested that the king pin Andersen adaption be reversed, that the current hitch and rails be moved back to the rear by 5 1/2 inches, that the rails be reinforced with a metal plate on both sides of the rails and he would advise Ryan and the installers as what to do.
Deb and I stayed in the customer lounge for the rest of the afternoon. I was informed that they would finish the job by closing but they would move my Sequoia next to the shop so I could use their 50 amp services or the night and they provided us a car in case we wanted to go out to eat. We didn't take them up on their offer but enjoyed the evening. Apparently someone worked on the truck during the evening because they delivered the truck early the next morning. After returning to the customer lounge (great wifi) one of the installers rebooked up the Sequoia and invited us out to watch him test drive the new setup. Truely amaizing! Will never have to worry about the truck cab window again. After paying ($540). As we were ready to leave Dan Miller, senior, came out to make sure we satisfied 110%. He and his son are wonderful people and it was the very best RV service I have ever had.
It's great when you come across folks like that, that they take pride in what/how they do their job, that's getting much harder to find these days.
