My Wife and I are owners of a 2016 38RL.

We are currently on a road trip, been out for a little over a week.

Each time we have stopped to setup for the night, using the level up system, we noticed the Kitchen side of the RV (heavy side) continually sags and needs to be re-leveled every 6 - 8 hours. Manually re-leveling the left side of the RV.

Are there any other RV'ers having similar problems out there. I thought the Level UP system was supposed to keep the RV Level.

I have a receive a reply from Lippert, stating that there isn't a problem with the system.

My thoughts are the Hydraulic Jacks ARE NOT sealing properly after the system indicates level.

All comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

I would check your reservoir to make sure it is full with all jacks up. also I would check all around for leaks in the system. it may also be air in the lines. could be a valve bleeding back into the tank. check the fluid level at the tank when level, then check again after the trailer drops

Jeff we haven't experienced that issue before. Agree with Shane...hitch your unit and retract all leveling/landing jacks. Then check the fluid level in the reservoir. If it's full, then I would recycle the leveling system a few times. If there are no leaks, then it sounds like a valve may be letting fluid by-pass back into the reservoir. The recycling may help the valve seat properly.

Good Morning Jeff ,

I too have a 16 38RL and don't have this problem on mine. I agree with the Shane and Grizzby that you MUST have a leak in the system somewhere , or air in the system.. I would contact my dealer if I were you and ask them to advise.. Did you contact Redwood direct? Or did you call Lippert on your own? I would keep Lippert out of it for now, as you purchased this RV from your dealer AND Redwood....

In addition to the responses from others, I would also check that the manual over-ride valves are fully closed. On our 36FL we have 3 in the front compartment and one at the top of the front legs in one of the propane compartments.

You will require a 5/32" allen wrench. If any of these are not fully closed the oil can bypass.

I also provide a link from the manuals section to the level-up system ops manual

I would agree that there's air in the lines & cycling it several times should cure it if that's the case.
Before adding fluid, all jacks should be retracted & the slides must be retracted also or you'll overfill the resevoir, full level is about a 1/4" below the fill opening on mine, not sure if they've used the same pump.
Once you've check fluid level & cycled it a few times then relevel & calibrate the system. Turn the system "off" then press "up" 10 times followed by "down" 10 times then "enter" the display will light up & acknowledge when it's done.

To purge air: extend and retract front jacks fully 3-4 times. repeat on rear jacks 2x. Then repeat 2x on front jacks. If there is air in the system, that will purge it.

Watched a Lippert Tech purge my system.

Here are the purging instructions from the Lippert Manual.

FILLING DIRECTIONS
NOTE: Be sure landing gear are fully retracted prior to filling reservoir to prevent over-filling.
1. Remove Breather/Fill Cap
2. Pour ATF into Breather/Fill opening.
NOTE: Do not allow any contamination into reservoir during fill process.
NOTE: Standard reservoir holds approximately 2 quarts (1.89 liters) of ATF.
3. Fill to within ½” of top.
4. Replace Breather/Fill cap when finished.
NOTE: System is self-purging. By simply cycling the system 2-3 times, any air in the system will be forced back to the reservoir and
out of the Breather/Fill cap.

They forgot the part about the slides, they also must be brought in or you'll overfill.
Mine has 15w hydraulic oil along with 15w motorcycle fork oil in it not ATF as per the service center.

Have the same problem, unit will drop 1/4 to 1/2 inch and even knocked over a table lamp. LCI said it is not thier problem, suggested removing a portion of the fluid and replaciing with fork hydralic oil. We did and it help for about a month. Problem still happens.

At the rally this question was brought up. To remove air out of the system run the Jack's all the way down and the hydraulic slides out. Run them all the way in and out 2-3 times and it should purge any air in the lines
