I think he may be saying that he is getting the 8K version, not the 8K axles... But that's just what I think..?? You are 100% correct, while they are not considered axle, there is still a rectangular tube that crosses from one to the other as pictured below..

I guess I am mis-identifying the square tube as an axle. In addition when I spoke to Rob Kolean at MorRyde, I thought he used the term "axle" but, it could have been 8k "system".

WHATEVER you want to call it, the bottom line is that you will probably LOVE the ride, and stopping power !... What a great investment to go on your investment....

I completed the disc brake install prior to the Rally last year. After the Rally we had the MorRyde IS and pin box installed.

We had the 8K "system" and the pin box installed on ours July 11, 12 prior to this year's rally. Towed it about 250 miles after the rally and the ride seems straighter and much smoother.

We are scheduled to have ours upgraded to IS in June of 2018 before next years rally. then at the rally will probably get the new pin box. Already upgraded the brakes to disc.

We did the IS and disc brakes over 4 years ago when our coach was about 6 months old. More than 32k miles later I can say without reservation that I would never own another fifth wheel without both. Ride is much better, stuff doesn't move around (we don't even take coffee maker off counter above oven) and overall handling of the rig is much better. Braking is every bit as good as the truck alone, if not possibly better.
Throw in the MorRyde pinbox and the Comfort Ride Hitch and I truly have to remember that the coach is behind me.

Fair amount of $$$ but worth every cent.

Disc breaks factory - don't know anything other than disc breaks so can't provide opinion.

MorRyde 8k IS added after the '15 rally.

Also upgraded pinbox to MorRyde 24k Pinbox and Goodyear G114 17.5" "H" tires. Altogether HUGE improvement.

We have the 36FB and upgraded this year to the Comfort Ride hitch and the MorRyde pin box and can't seem to get the two to play nice together. Nicer ride, but still a lot of bounce in the RW. The rear window shades fell on our maiden voyage with the combo.

We have a F-350 dually with airbags. Pin weight on the 36FB is ~ 3650. I think we have 4 air cells on the hitch now. Any suggestions on how to make the ride perfect?

Oh, and we did upgrade to 8 K axles, disc brakes and IS suspension last year. World of difference with the disc brakes! Wouldn't be without them now with all the crazies out there pulling out in front of you and then slamming on their brakes!!

I have heard that if you have air shocks and an air hitch that the two will fight with each other and give you a rough ride. I don't have that set up so I cant tell you for sure. maybe call the hitch dealer and see what they suggest.

I went bck and forth several times on the number of cells to use in my Comfort Ride. My pin is similar to yours 3600 - 3700 and felt with only 4 cells I was getting too much compression, so I ended up using all 5, raised the hitch up to get the RW level and our ride is probably about as good as you can get. I have no bags on our Chevy.
I just had to have the Swing Arm replaced while at the Rally because it was tearing in the corners and Rick has added another brace to eliminate the issue, see the photo for the location of the tear and the bow in the cross piece.

Like Michelle, my pin is about the same as yours, around 3650-3700. I run 4 cells, with an auxiliary spring in the outer two for a little more stiffness. Sometimes I will add the fifth depending on road conditions. That's the great part, swing off the road, put the jacks down till the hitch lifts clear and snap in or out a cushion and see what it does. I have Airlift bags in my F350 dually and will run between 45-65 psi when loaded depending on road conditions. Have onboard compressor and wireless remote. What Rick has found is that with the IS, for some reason it seems to transfer more weight onto the pin while driving than an axle setup does. Not sure why, but the hitch needs to be set up stiffer. I also moved my swing arm to the uppermost holes so that when loaded it was a straight up and down compression.
Like Michelle, I don't think I could get a better ride than what I have now. Unless it is a "killer" bridge joint, the most we get is a little bit of a head bob. If you have a lot of stuff moving in the coach, you may need to swing by MorRyde and have them change to the next softer springs than what you have in. We actually changed springs twice to get where we are. Unfortunately this isn't an exact science but after you hit the sweet spot the results are amazing .

We had MorRyde IS installed in '14 along with their disc brakes and 8K axels. I just purchased and installed a MorRyde rubber pin box after the Lippert Trail Air Tri Glide fell apart while we were traveling thru Colorado.

John,

How did your Trail-Aire Tri-Glide fail? With all the reports of the Tri-Glide failing, it is beginning to get a little worry some. I know you have a lot of miles on your Redwood. How many miles before the Tri-Glide failed?

Guy
