I have a 2017 3401RL with drum brakes and I have seen a number of posts about the significant superiority of disc brakes.
1. If I upgrade to disc brakes will this void my Redwood warranty?
2. Where can I get this upgrade done? We will be in Alaska and unable to make the 2018 Rally. We live near Savannah, GA and the local Camping World said that they do not do disc brake upgrades.
Thank you
Bill,
Call the folks at Performance Trailer Braking and have them do it.. IF you are not in a hurry, they will come to where you are and do the install.
The difference is really like night and day, I love my Titan set up ( THANKS RON ! ! )
I bet if you call them and explain that you are unable to attend the rally, they would give you discount to be close, they are great like that,, OR *
Get the pieces/parts from them and have a trailer shop do the install, That is what I did.. I could not get hooked up with Ron's guys, so I had him ship the parts to a local trailer repair/welder/small trailer manufacturer close to me.

While Titan Guy is enjoying retirement, his company continues under new owners Michael & Kelly Barnett, who will be attending our 2018 Rally. They are pleased to offer the following services:
Disk Brakes
Disc Brake Conversion Kit for Tandem 7k or 8k axle (8 lugs) $1800 rally price - Installation is an additional $800 paid directly to the installer at the time of the install.
Disc Brake Conversion Kit for a Triple 7k or 8k axle (8 lugs) $2325 rally price - installation is an additional $1000 paid directly to the installer at the time of the install.
If you are interested in upgrading to Disk Brakes, please contact Michael or Kelly to place your order prior to the rally, so they can pre-order sufficient product.

Also the installers for PTB are first rate & do a VERY neat job of installation.

Michael made a Florida swing this past winter and came all the way south to Naples and installed mine along with the MORryde suspension system. I love this and feel much safer as my wife and I are getting ready to go on a 11,000 mile northwest trip starting in July.
He goes south in the winter to install for the snowbirds.
Dave,
Thank you. We are leaving soon for a summer of camping in the northeast and the pacific northwest. Since my camper is a 2017, hopefully will make it through this summer, then I will have the disk brakes installed when we are back home in Savannah this fall.
I appreciate your help.
Bill
I agree, the disc brakes make a bunch of improvement in braking. Would not be without them.
I ordered mine from Ron before he retired and installed them myself.

Bill,
While we now have disk brakes, which Ron installed at the 2016 Rally, we did over 25,000 miles on the factory electric brakes. We did the entire length of the West Coast and all across Canada/USA. Living on the West Coast, we have many miles through the Rockies.
Yes, the disks are a huge improvement, but with safe driving we never had an issue with the factory brakes. Have descended long grades of up to 11% without any problems.
Enjoy your trip out West.
I agree with Andy! I towed mine with the OEM drum brakes about 50k miles, til I needed new brake shoes, before upgrading to the disc, which is a 100% improvement, mone6 well spent.
The only issue with the drums were the cheap factory grease seals leaking past & contaminating all 4 brake drums. I had to replace all 4 brake backing plates, fortunately that was back a few years & I didn't have to go through a dealer, Redwood reimbursed me for parts. Just a word to the wise if you haven't pumped grease through the grease zerks on each hub, DON'T, hand packing is what I'd recommend.

Danny,
Our VIN numbers are really close, so I guess we had the same guy packing the bearings, as I had similar problems. Dealer fixed under warranty.
I do recall that, but Andy you've got a better memory than me.......what were we talking about?

I experienced similar issues with grease blowing through the seals and contaminating the brakes. Our dealer fixed all 4.

We also purchased ours from Ron at Performance. We purchased them and then installed them ourselves also. Then the next rally, they checked our work to make sure everything looked good. Great Company. The new owners are also great to work with. You won't be sorry you did it. We had our stock brakes for about 4 years before upgrading.
We purchased our disc brakes and also our H rated tires. Two of my favorite upgrades.
