Theresa,
Last summer I pumped grease into ours before leaving Lynden, then after a short day (about 60 miles) I re-greased. I then added grease about every 1,000 miles.
Our tri-glide moves forward and back similar to the one on your attached film, but we don't have any of the sideways movement that Terry had. When towing we didn't experience any banging unless locking up the brakes.
Thanks. I'm just unclear if the glide plate is supposed to rock that much and strike metal to metal. We haven't pulled ours that much, probably 1000 miles total over 2 1/2 years. It just seems it was much more pronounced, banging, on this trip.
Ours was similar to your video, but figured that was how it was supposed to work. We never had banging and I never greased it after hearing of Dave's fiasco with grease getting everywhere. Maybe it was just a matter of time for us....
We had the banging and having read of the potential problems with the tri-glide I called Lippert and was sent that air glide 21000# lower jaw and installation kit free of charge including shipping. A friend and I made the change easily, hopefully the air glide will perform well, we haven't been on the road with it yet.
Update.... LCI is shipping out a new lower jaw to my dealership for replacement. Now we just have to make sure we tow it there safely!
You should be ok. I got 30k miles on my TriGlide before it failed for good. Your video looks normal to me.
Terry, did you get the new on installed at J&T?

Al,
Got the new flex air pin box installed yesterday by J and T tire store in Borrego Springs.. It took a single mechanic with a lift table a little more than one hour to remove the old/new flex air and replace with the new flex air. They charged $190 which seemed fair and Lippert offered to pay. I have to say that through the trails and tribulations of the last month Lippert has been absolutely first class to deal with and have stayed with the problem and solutions.
New FlexAir pin box that replaced failed TriGlide
Here is a new TriGlide maintenance bulletin. In fact, I greased the zerks since new but the Glide component still failed.
