Remove the wheels...

Or one of these - - King Pin Lock

But , not really needed... If you feel like you need one , you should move 👿

I guess they would have to first break into my Redwood, let all 5 slides in, pop the lock on the Level Up Door and let the landing gear up, then hitch up to it to steal it. B)

Anytime the slides are in, my Redwood is hooked up to my truck !!!

From wamt I've seen/heard about in our travels is they don't steal the trailer but break in & steal electronics, so rather than lock the hitch you'd need bars on the windows & doors. Locks will only slow them down & cause them to tear up more getting in, but if they want in they'll get in.
We've been camping/rving for 40+ years & have NEVER had anything stolen, had raccoons eat most of our groceries one night, but nothing stolen.

about 10 years ago I was at Myrtle Beach Travel Park , had an outside fridge for my beer and water... had all the beer stolen and my sneakers... The beer I understood , but my used ( HARD ) sneakers I for the life of me still cannot figure out...

There have been stories on RV.Net about folks having their smaller tt's stolen.. usually 2 reasons -#1 - numbers stripped and placed in woods for hunting cabin...#2- numbers stripped and placed in woods for meth lab.. either way , they all have been smaller TT's NOT BIG and BULKY RW's.. they would stand out in the woods !

Prevention is the best medicine. I still opt for secure devices where I can get them. You never know when you might invite a problem. Just the name Redwood means you probably have something someone wants.

This is what we use, it was recommended by the chap I used for driver training prior to taking the road test.

https://www.amazon.ca/RoadPro-RPKPSL-2-Heavy-Duty-Steel/dp/B002UMC1HQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1473768857&sr=8-2&keywords=king+pin+lock

This is a low cost device that is highly visible to those with criminal intent. Am I really worried that somebody will hitch up the coach and drive it away from a campground - No. For the reasons Rob provided, this is highly unlikely.

At every Block Watch program we have attended, the Police always recommend providing a visual clue you home is more secure than others. Most criminals or kids will bypass your home, opting for the easy solution.

In addition to the King Pin lock we also have the German Shepherd back up.

I think that nothing will prevent the theft of an RV if the thieves are determined. There was a fifth wheeler stolen in our community, the thieves separated it from the truck (it was connected!) and hauled it away!

And, there are gadgets made to grab the pin assembly even with a king pin lock, it's happened with pin locks on transport trailers.

A pin lock will stop some amateurs but not the pros.

Al,

Totally agree, if a pro has a market for the coach, the lock and GSD will not stop them, but at least 80% of potential thieves will move to easier targets on seeing a lock and seeing/hearing a GSD.

I figure applying the king pin lock is the same as putting an Alarm Company sign on the lawn at home, even if you don't have an alarm system.

I carry a $100,000 policy for loss of the RW as locks of any kind will not prevent some from stealing. We have been there and done that on previous RV's and recently our RW when the entrance door was torn open. We pay for "secured" covered storage however the break-ins were by the security guys! They turned off the security cameras and went to work. My son-in-law (policeman/SWAT/) just happen to be on patrol when he spotted a vehicle towing a landscaping (also stolen from the storage facility) trailer loaded with TV's. He soon had the guys in cuffs. They had ripped open eight RV's including mine and several MH's (including a Newell). They were at the local university hocking the TV's to students. I upgraded my insurance to a flat value due due to the depreciation on a RV. I sleep better knowing that a total loss will be covered replacing most of what we paid for the RW. Our home and vehicles have similar coverage. We pay bocoos for all of our insurance and hope we never need to file a claim.

We have had a lot of problems with theft In our construction yards with 24 hrs gaurds. They are usually involved as they are paid minimum wage and the crooks offer more
