Seems looking at the various online redwood related sites I always see suspension problems. Almost afraid to pull our 2014 36FL out of the driveway. Axles breaking loose, shackles breaking and ect. I was thinking about putting the morryde SRE/4000 33" suspension system and the heavy duty shackle kit on myself. Anyone done this on their own and is it very difficult ??? I want to get the rig up to morryde in Indiana to get the disk brake install done at a future date but due to health issues it wont be this year. Ive done a lot of mechanical and electrical type repairs but never tackled a suspension issue on something this large. I know most think the independent suspension is the way to go but that's a little out of my present budget.

It is a pretty simple job. You can use the auto level to manually lift the trailer. A couple of Jack stands and either a bottle or floor Jack. I replaced my equiflex with centerpoint, replaced the plastic bushings with bronze and added joy rider shocks. As far as disc brakes get ahold of Ron Russel AK Titan guy. His prices are better than moreryde. He will also have his installers come to you for the install. Does an excellent job.
Use the brass bushings for sure. The 8000 springs add one more leaf over the 7000 lb springs.
Be sure to verify the correct MorRyde suspension system. The 4000 is not rated for 8000 lb axles. You have to use the 3000.
I'm looking at the Lippert Centerflex. When compared to the MorRyde 3000, there is a significant difference.
You might want to wait and when you get the discs, have them installed then. Otherwise, your just doing the job twice (like me...). I should have done it at the same time.
Similar to Shane, we installed the Lippert Centrepoint, which is substantially less expensive than the IS. Can't compare the ride to the IS system, but it is a substantial improvement over the original Equaflex.
Disk brakes - I had them installed by Ron at the rally price and his after sales service is exceptional. Had a defective pump, so Ron sent his technician out to where we store the coach in northern WA to make good repairs.
Shane - just noted this one is in the FAQ category, do you mind moving it over.

Here is a link to the shackle and bushing upgrade on this ROG website. See contents on left side of page.

Thanks for the info. Going to look at the centerpoint and centerflex also. So many out there now it is confusing. Think I will contact Ron on the brakes when ready. Live in Dallas/ Fort Worth area so he surely has installers come here.
Frank,
I've got 50k+/- miles on my 2013 7k axles & up until last fall the only upgrade was the MorRyde heavy shackles/wet bolt kit. Early on I had to replace all 4 brakes due to their cheap a## seals leaking & this past Nov. I had Ron's guys (John & John) come put on disc brakes & H rated tires/wheels. My point being, don't be afraid to hook up & go, just be aware & inspect closely while traveling. Happy trails & safe travels.

Thanks all for the replies. I took Shane Woods advice and contacted Ron Russell Titan guy today. I crawled under the redwood today and looks like I have a left rear seal let loose and there is grease all over the back plate and axle.
Might be the reason it doesn't want to stop and pushing my 17 Ford dually a little. Ron is just up the road from me in Oklahoma and he said he had a crew coming this way in the next few weeks. He is going to put on disks and upgrade those shackles and bushings also. Works for me !!!!
Good choice! Ron did ours as well and what a difference! You won't be sorry.
How do I get ahold of Ron? I cant make the rally this year. I know he comes to Florida each winter so I want to try to hook up with him down here. I am going to make a major trip northwest next summer and I want to get the new breaks. I am on a 4,000 mile southwest trip now and the breaks I have make me a little nervous.
Dave - Ron will probably respond to your post, or you can send him a PM to Titan Guy.
To PM. Go to Member List on the left sidebar and search for Russell. Select Titan Guy link and in message drop down, select send PM.
Those guys can do the upgrade in 4-6 hours (depends on the amount of bs you have with them) & do a FANTASTIC job. Depending on where the installers are they may be able to do the install while on your trip. It will be the best money you'll spend in my opinion. Just traveled 800-1000 miles with my new brakes & WOW what a difference, I can actually feel the RW slowing the truck.
The park we wintered in they installed 4 others plus mine & 2 of those they found MAJOR suspension damage that would have been catastrophic (broken equalizers, damaged tires, broken springs) had they not gotten the upgrade before they traveled further.
