We are towing our 2013 Redwood with a Ford 450 dually. The rear tires are looking low on tread, and we're planning a month long trip soon so want to take care of them before we go. They are 225 70R 19.5G. We are seeing prices and brands all over the map. Any recommendations on brands?

I tried that, and his response was that he does not work with truck tires.
On my F350 Dually, I run two different brands of tires. Since you can't rotate in any case (other than the fronts, side to side) I went with what a heavy Truck friend said "treat a Dually pickup the same as a Semi tractor and buy what works best for drive and steer tires".
I'm currently running Generals on the front (same tire as OE, works fine and reasonable dollars) and Firestone Transport on the drive axle. Have about 25k miles on the Firestones and it looks like they are about 1/3 or so worn. The orginal Generals gave me 45k, with about half of that mileage towing the RW. When the Firestones were first put on, the ride was a bit harsh but after about 2k miles they settled in. Right now, with this tire combination and Sulastic spring hangers the Dually rides every bit as good as a 150 series unloaded.

From my experiences, mine are 17", I've had the best luck with Michelins, they will outlast 2-3 of other brands. Yes they are pricey, but you get what you pay for. Because we are always on the road I choose Discount Tire so I can have service anywhere & have had great customer service.

Danny, I would normally agree as I've always had service out of Michelins. On a Ford however, I've known at least three people in the last 2-3 years that had issues with the way the truck handled after putting them on. One of the reasons I didn't go with Michelin.
I have 62,000 miles on Michelins and still have 7/32" tread left! Wow!
Ouch. Thanks for the update. Still learning. Okay. How about your weight data applied towards a well known tire mgf (Michelen, Firestone, etc).? I tend to go with the original tire mgf. on my tow truck. Just saying.
Michelin LT tires came OEM on my 2013 GMC. 40,000 miles on the truck tires were towing the Redwood.
I replaced my OEM Michelins with almost 69k on them & could of got another 5k but we were about to hit the road for the summer so went ahead & replaced with the same.
I had a friend this past winter bought a '17 King Ranch F450 with Continental tires & he said he could barely keep it between the ditches. Ford checked everything & found nothing so they blamed the tires but weren't wanting to replace them, season ended & I haven't heard how he made out. Personally I'd say FORD.
Reading on the Thor forum about ALL the upgrades that all the class A & C owners with the Ford chassis have to spend to try & make their handling not such a white knuckle drive, the common thread is FORD.
Not trying to start a truck war or hijack this "tire" thread, just stating my opinion.

I had 3 Ford super duties with Continentals, Firestone Flexsteel, and BF Goodrich - all handled perfectly. Not to contribute to Danny's truck war bait - but it's not Ford.

I had compared various tires. The information came from the tire websites. I would have liked to try the Cooper tires but no one had them in stock at the time. I have the Michelin and they are expensive. But, overall, this has really been a very good tire. They are quiet and rated for 80,000 miles. They have 30,000 now and still look brand new.
2011 f350 drw, 40,400 MILES 2ND SET OF TIRES. Ford can not get the shaking/wobble out of it, blames it on the tires. Going back to dealer Monday for them to try and find a fix for it. Yes it is a Ford problem, Firestone checked tires and think it is a out of balanced left front axle, put in 4 wheel lock/drive and steering is great but fuel mileage is bad.
Would love to hear from others with this problem.

It has to do with the twin I-Beam independent suspension. I fought it for years.
