My auto adjust brakes on front axle went out in the mountains of Colo recently. My dealer in fixing the brakes noticed the rear spring had completely broken from the frame......I assumed it was a no brainer but Keystone evidently thinks my hitch has something to do with the broken spring as they requested photos of my hitch to determine, I guess ,if it was modified. I have no idea how you can modify a 5th wheel hitch......This would be a good one to call the Redwood people that were at the rally.......see if they think it was my hitch....
That is a first. Did the spring hanger break or did the spring itself break?
The entire spring hangar separated from the frame with the spring breaking......
Pin box would have absolutely nothing to do with spring hanger breaking.
Poor welding #1
Hitting something hard enough to cause damage #2
Grossly overloaded #3
After attending the tour at the redwood plant and looking at the Lippert trailer frames on the assembly line I would go with #1
The Tech working on the hangar said it was a bad weld. I'm no welder so I can't say but no overloading and not damaged by me so..........maybe my hitch did it.........

I recall looking at the same frames and welds, and from managing a shipyard, I've seen 1st year apprentices complete better quality welds.
Lippert poor weld quality isn't new, back a decade or so ago when Glendale (Titanium RVs) changed from their own manufactured frames to Lippert frames there were a number of weld problems that required repairs.

Hmm, our spring hangers broke off on our 2003 Keystone product, and the spring broke on our Redwood, but I was never asked about the hitch, interesting.
Of course Lippert denied both claims because they suck, but both Montana and Redwood took care of the issues themselves for us without question.
