Recently a number of times the idea of using a Cell Signal Booster has come up in passing. I thought it would be nice to hear from people what they are doing and how it works for them.
I use a zBoost ZB575-A with the 70db directional antenna. It works well. I've seen when I have a 1 or 2 bar 4G signal standing on the roof with my iPhone and nothing inside, I can deploy the cell booster and get 3 to 4, and sometimes 5, bars LTE inside the camper provided the cell tower I'm aimed at has LTE service. Either way it cleans up the 4G signal inside.
The kicker is that the antenna and the actual booster need to be separated by at least 15 vertical feet for it to work. I rigged a 4' piece of 1" PVC pipe which I attach to a 1' piece of 1" PVC to the top of the ladder using a coupler. That way I can aim the antenna where I want and take it down for travel.
From the antenna I run the coax cable down the ladder and under the coach to a spot near the convenience center where I plug it in. I don't put it inside because there is too much metal but leave it under the coach below the front slide.
This works very well in the front and mid section of my 38FL and since I have a Wifi Router tethered to my iPhone for whole house internet on top of my entertainment center, the proximity to the booster is very good.
Seems complicated but really it isn't.
So I'm curious, do any of you also have a cell booster and if so which ones now.
