So trying to get winegard trav’ler installed , I got it on roof and screwed down , I removed the two coax cables and found the power cord for traveler to lock signal in. But here is problem , they left me about 1 ft of cable to come out of roof. It is caught or screwed down , I can’t get anymore out , I need to get about 8-10 ft of cable out. It came with a cable attached but it will not plug into the cable that is pulled in the roof, What to do ?

That happened to us. We bought our coach from Tiara and part of the deal was installation of the Winegard from our old trailer, they spliced an extension onto the “short” cable. You have a cable to use, I would make the splice and push into the roof cavity for protection.

Splice like butt connectors ? I thought about that but wasn’t sure , didn’t want to cut the ends off then end up not working for some reason

As I said Tiara did it so I’m not sure of their procedure. I would use butt splices or solder and shrink wrap. Once the splice is made and tucked away it should be good forever! Our has no issues!

Ya, I just spliced in the control cable that came with the antenna and used butt end connectors and pushed it all back down into the ceiling.

Same with the coax cables, they were too short and I didn't like Redwoods through the roof connectors that would have left a tree catching loop. I got satellite rated barrel connectors and ran cable extension to the antenna and again pushed the barrel connectors down into the ceiling so it was all a clean install on the roof using the winegard penetration seal. (note - top pic does not have self leveling lap sealant applied yet - unfinished)

Hey Jeremy, when you push the wiring back into the roof, push enough slack in there so you can access it all from an interior light in the ceiling. That way if you have an issue, or if you change design later, you won't have to disrupt your roof seals.

Thanks , also need maybe a little more help , I just finished installing and powered up , the trav’ler is only seeing sat 119 no signal on 110 or 129. I got hopper 3 installed and joey , but the hopper has been trying to test switch for about 25 minutes , just seems to not finding anything or something , I watch the YouTube video that has the dph42 switch and have it installed with power and switch , but just seems to be lacking something , I have not called dish to set up yet , just trying to get equipment all set up before we called , any ideas ?

Does all three satellites have to have signal for hopper to work ? Or how to adjust traveler ?

There's lots of info to tell you, so I would suggest you study the tech documents section of this gent's website. He did all the legwork, so I didn't have to. We've been using our Hopper 3 for two years or so with our Travel'r. There's very specific info on how to make this setup work, as Winegard's stance to me was...."The hopper 3 won't work with the Travel'r" As I said we've been using it quite well for a couple of years.
