When I renewed my Florida Tag last year on my 2018 RAM, the clerk asked was I towing at my RAM's max tow capacity of 30,000 lbs.
I said no, the clerk said that my RAM was registered by the selling dealer at the max rated capacity and if I was actually towing at less than the max rating she could lower my tag renewal cost.
We lowered the registered rating to what my Redwood weighs and saved some money on the tag renewal.
