MORryde rubber pin box or Trail Air Flex Air?

This may have already been discussed in the forum however, I haven't located it. If it has, my apology and could someone direct me to the appropriate thread.

Our '17 38RL came with the Tri-Glide pin box which was replaced with the Trail-Air Flex air. I tow with F350 DRW with AirLift 5000 bags. I have tried multiple air pressure combinations of air bags and the pin box donut. For the life of me I cannot get bounce down to what I would consider minimal.

P/S - MorRyde IS + disc brakes

So, I have a two part request. Would anyone here have any suggestions that would have benefit to my existing set up? And, has anyone here, with the same or similar set up, gone to the MorRyde pin box and what is your experience with the change?

Adding another thought. Could it be conflict between the air bags and the Trail Air donut. One in compression while the other is rebounding? Back and forth?

I have heard that an Air King Pin and Air Hitch isn't a good combination, never heard about problems with AirBags on the TV.
At the time I and some others at the Rally a few years got rid of our Tri-Glides Lippert wouldn't do anything for us so most went with the MORryde Pin Box. I don't have Bags on the TV, but am running a Comfort Ride Hitch and have what I consider a reasonable ride.

We still have the tri-glide and used it with the same air bags on the old F350 SRW. Our 36 FL has a lower pin weight than your 38RL, so I kept the hitch air bag about 45-55 psi. This provided a gentle ride.

For air bags, believe I set them at about 50-60 psi and then adjusted based on the ride. Never had issues with air bags fighting each other.

We had the Ford prep package so use the Reese Elite hitch.

Interesting bit about pin weight. When we ready to purchase, we were torn between the 36 & 38. Several points lead us to our decision. One was pin weight. At that time we had an F250. The two units were side by side. As built the 36RL had a pin weight 200 lbs higher than the 38RL. We chose the 38.

We have a 38RL and changed last year at the Rally to the MorRyde pin box from a busted Trail Air.

Our F-350 has air bags with a Curt 20K hitch. The new pin box showed a noticeable difference. The truck and trailer feel like they move as a unit instead of porpoising and fighting against each other. Ride was greatly improved, but I also have noticed the nose of the RW seems to have a rougher ride than with the air bag pin. No damage but I have had to tighten a few more loose screws than before. This is a better set up.

As for the triglide ,I don't have any first hand info but a few thoughts. Over on redwood owners group there is a topic that talks about adding a second shock to slow down the rebound of of the hitch air bag. I believe this will help some and not cost much to try. Second part of opinion is any the you add more load carrying compsity you need better shocks in the TV to slow down the rebound after it's compressed. Bilstein yellow is my favorite resonable price shock , these will often show a noticable improvement over new stock shocks never mind shocks with 50k on them. I personally run a fox 2.0 with adjustable remotes.in the back of my GM truck , I had GM factory rancho shocks that acted like a pogo stick when the air bags where at 50psi. I would also consider the Rancho RS9000X as a great shock fro towing but it requires you to crawl under the truck a few time to get the adjustment setting to were you happy unloaded and loaded. these can be turned up to be very firm and last a long time but the adjuster isn't very compatible with salt and winter roads ( they will stick).

Next truck will have the fox in the rear and 8' bed and a comfort ride hitch.

I had a rotoflex pin box and then changed to Morryde pin box , both work ok at stopping forward and rearward shock from the trailer but the single biggest provement was Morryde independent suspension. I can leave all the kitchen appliances on the counter and know after 1000 miles nothing is damaged . The cabinet doors all stay closed with no extra help and the amount of minor repairs due to stuff coming loose is almost nothing now.. before everything would open dump out of the fridge , pantry over head cabinets . The Morryde has improved the life expectancy of the trailer in my opinion. It's not must have but sure is nice to have. Of you have 7000lb axles and drum brakes you really should consider this a money well spent upgrade
