I received a PM today stating I should post a disclaimer about using Pledge furniture polish on your slide seals, they claimed the Pledge caused theirs to turn to goo.
I'm certain the Pledge had absolutely nothing to do with the deterioration of their seals but is part of a batch of seals that were used on RWs as well as numerous other brands/models of rvs as posted on several forums that have failed.
I used the Pledge regularly on my FB for 6+ years up to the time I sold it & the seals were in excellent condition, soft, pliable & not gooey.
You can consider this a disclaimer if you choose, but it's actually a recommendation for the use of Pledge on all the rubber seals throughout your RV.

I used Pledge on the wiper seals of my *2016* up until it was destroyed. I had to replace 1 wiper due to it ripping, but had NO GOO . ..

I first used baby powder and an old sock which worked well, but didn't last as long.

Danny,

I agree. The use of Pledge on the seals was recommended to me by the manager of the Redewood factory service center. I have done so since 2012 and the seals on my 2012 36RL are still in perfect condition.

Danny - our coaches are the same age and I have also used Pledge, with the seals being in excellent condition.

I have a slightly different opinion about the slide seals, I think Redwood used seals that were badly manufactured or cheap. The seals on our unit leave black marks on the slides, they seem to dissolve on their own, our previous 3 fivers didn't have this issue, and if you use seal conditioner on the seals they really dissolve. Redwood should get their act together and install quality seals.

Parts of our seals turned to goo and we never used Pledge. Had to change out all of the upper seals above slides but the side seals never deteriorated! Go figure.

I had the “D” seals on the driver side of camper turn to goo. We have a 2015 38RE. REDWOOD refused me on warranty and said it was a maintenance problem. I asked them what maintenance was to be accomplished and they told me I was to inspect it every 6 months. I told them ok I inspected it and have a problem. There is no instructions concerning applying seal conditioner anywhere. She just said it is a maintenance problem. I feel this should have been covered under my manufactures warranty

My feelings on slide seals-they are essentially made of the same stuff as the seals on your car doors and trunk lid. What do you do to maintain and/or condition them? Just sayin'
