tire pressure G114

Just checking to see what everyone keeps their pressure at for 17.5" Goodyear 114"s. The sidewall states 125 is cold psi. I have been keeping mine a lot less (108psi cold), based on recommendation from getting weighed. I'm seeing a lot of equal wear on outside and inside of tires. Feel as if I should be running closer to the 125 psi to even out the wear.
I'm under weight on each axle, and have 8,000lb. IS Tires are about a year old and have approx 6500 miles.
Not trying to beat a dead horse on this topic.

I too have the 8k IS with Good Year 17.5's... I run mine at 115

I was running mine at 125 and had almost 40K miles on them with pretty even wear, until the one exploded on the way to the Rally. Since they were 4 1/2 years old I changed to the Sailun's to give them a try, but still using 125 psi.

I upgraded to the Sailun 17.5" inflated to 125 on OEM 7k axles, to be honest didn't notice any difference in ride compared to the GY 614s at 110 psi & had even wear on both sets.

I also run mine at 115. Rides well and shows no wear and tear.

trailer tires are high scrub design tread , your going to have some extra wear on the out side 1/3 to 1/2 way on the solid shoulder tread block both inside and outside edge. This wear is normal if its even all the way around the tire.if its not even then start to look at alinement and ballance. I would error on the high side of tire pressure its very unlikely your trailer has even tire weights. My RL is much heavier on the drivers side and depending on it its nose high or low will add more weight to the front or rear axel.

I run mine at 110 PSI cold according to the Goodyear inflation tables for the G114 that will give you 4340 Lbs. capacity per tire. If you have a 8,000 lb. IS suspension anything more than that will give your trailer a rougher ride than required.

Cheezy, word of caution about the Tire Minder. Friends were traveling with us and totally blew a tire right off the rim and the Tire Minder never gave them an alarm, even with the tire gone. They didn't have a clue until a passing motorist flagged them down.

I have had my tire minders for 4 years/36,000 miles and they have saved me three times by warning me of slow leak from nails in two different tires and a cracked valve stem. I wouldn't travel without them. I check them for proper operation before getting on the road when I torque my lug nuts. Anything is possible when on the road so all we can do is prepare the best we can. Sorry about your friends tire.

Most tire pressure monitoring systems work great for a slow leak like from a nail, cracked rim or valve stem leak but during a catastrophic failure with rapid pressure loss, many times they do not respond fast enough.
