Any cyber security experts out there?

We have an option to use wireless services at the park we are staying at...

If we elect to use it, what protective features do we need to incorporate? (i.e. router, switch, etc.)

Interesting question!

Not sure if you are referring to joining a paid service from a provider that services the park, in which case it wouldn't be different than signing up for a service at home. Or are you talking about connecting to the parks (free?) wifi?

I'm not an expert but anti virus software and a firewall on your computer combined with IBM trusteer app installed for internet banking (and our banks provide 100% guarantees of the security of our $$ due to hacking) is what we use. Not sure if a router or switch would work with a park wifi hotspot, but you will get some form of a router with a sign up to a provider if that's the way you are going.

Typically use the park Wi-Fi for games, surfing, etc, & we have own mifi from Verizon with 18g of data for all our personal online transactions, so far 8 1/2 years with this setup with no problems.
You won't be streaming movies or downloading/uploading big files with either of these or you'll be paying out whasoo for data, but it works well for us.

Similar to Danny, for email and general surfing, we use the free park wi-fi, when available.

If conducting banking or purchasing online we use our secure Bell mobile hotspot.
