It sounds like a tumbler pin is breaking down.

You could try contacting Bauer for troubleshooting (or possibly a locksmith).

You may have done this one but considering spraying silicon inside that key insert and working ( or jiggling) the key back and forth. You may also try WD-40, as it will break down grease or dirt. The silicon would be better to start with as it won't attract dirt.

After looking at diagrams on the Bauer website, I don't readily see a way to get to the lock assembly without major surgery.

BUT, as a result of your post, I did take the batteries out just in time. They were starting to corrode. We don't use the electronic portion of the lock. It's too easy to pick 4 numbers.

Here are some diagrams if it helps:

Here are the Bauer Distributors to call:

Bauer Manual from LCi:

https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/support/manuals/Doors/Bauer_NE_Lock_Owners_Manual.pdf

It's basically the same manual. But if you need diagrams, go straight to Bauer...

If you want to try and replace just the tumbler, you may want to contact this resource (They sell a lot of other products besides just door lock assemblies)...:

Soooooo....It looks like you have to be a registered Locksmith in order to change out the key core:

http://www.rvlocksandmore.com/KEY-CHANGE

You could replace the entire assembly:

Camping World has it for $149:

Rebuilt on Amazon for $129
New on Amazon for $149

Thanks for the great info. I have tried WD40 with no luck. I was hoping not to change out the lock. We rarely have used the key pad. It appears that I will be replaceing it.

The thing that sucks replacing it is the need to get more keys cut

When ordering a new lock assembly, have you asked if they can key to your current key by giving them the key number?? Don't know if it's possible, but never hurts to ask.

If buying from a Distributor, it might or might not be possible. Although...there are not that many different keys. But if one calls Bauer direct, they will likely fix you right up. Try both by giving them your key number...

If you are going to go ahead and install a new unit, consider whether or not Bauer will warrant the bad one. Then you will have a backup unit in case of a problem later on. Its worth a try...

Or save it for next years' Redwood Rally. There has been a locksmith there who can match all of your locks together under one key. Its possible he might fix it pretty cheap.
