What kind of "soap" should I use to clean my roof?
Alpha says to use regular soap. I use Simple Green. See the info under roofing in the Manuals section of our website herein.
RECOMMENDED REPAIR METHOD FOR ALPHA SYSTEMS
ROOF SEALANT
During routine cleaning (3-4 times a year), all caulk and sealants should be inspected for voids or cracking. If the caulk is cracking, pull up any loose caulk. Do not use any tools, such as a putty knife, that could puncture the rubber roof membrane. If you cannot pull the caulk off by hand, it is still adhered to the roof and should be left alone.
Clean the areas to be re-sealed using regular soap and water. The area must be dry before continuing.
Apply a generous amount of Alpha Systems 1010 Sealant over the top of any existing caulk in the area being re-sealed.

I've always used Spic 'n Span. I don't believe it's as harsh on waxed surfaces as some of the other "commercial" detergents.
We have a roof armor roof and I use the same mcquires auto cleaning solution that I use on my truck and the rest of the coach. Works great. I regularly clean the roof every two months as our Redwood is stored outside with no overhead cover.
I use the same Turtle Wax auto soap unless it's very dirty from parking under trees then I also use Simple Green sprayed on let set, then scrub & rinse. I use the SG on my awnings as well, mix it in a pump up sprayer, saturate the awning as you're rolling it up, let set for 30-45 minutes & lightly brush & rinse, works great.
