Redwood's design of the bedroom door is doomed to cause the owner to FAIL in closing the door before retracting the bedroom slide. This tears the door from it's frame. I've fixed it myself but found the interior framework to be below standards for such a costly 5W.
My rl the door has to be open or it will stop the slide. These are the things we need to take into account when operating the slides. Same as not sliding the rear cushions up out of the way you will tear off the decorative trim on the slide. The hydraulic slide exerts a lot of pressure. The door frames are made to stand up to normal use only. They are made out of lighter material than a house to help keep the weight down now that's not to say that they were not put together properly at the factory

Sounds like either that label or an interlock on the door should be installed from the factory.

To me, the easiest and simplest solution would be to put the slide out switch on the wall at the doorway by the shower. Then a person could watch the operation closely and realize instantly if something isn't right.

Have 201538 GK had same problem. They should put a warning note at control. I did & never will do it again.
I am sure that folks won't like my response to this type of issue , but here it goes . .
There are only so many things the manufacturer and dealers can do , The OWNER has to take some type of accountability when doing stuff... On my RL ,IF I leave the bedroom door closed , it will be ugly . . I make CERTAIN it is closed every time...On my PDI , the dealer made sure to over emphasize the fact that the door needed to be open.. It's really no different than making sure the TV antenna is down... OR the tailgate is down when hooking or unhooking , its up to ME to prevent damage..

I agree with Joe, we need to take responsibility for our actions. Just like, remember to pull your TV out from under the RW before hitting "Auto Level".

Joe - definitely agree with you. Personally, I don't want any additional electronic interlocks or logic panel that can go wrong - keep it simple.
Don't we all visually check it is clear before bringing the slides in or out. We have a similar situation on the 36FL and I'm almost certain the 38/39FL's. If you add a foam topper to the bed, but didn't lower the bed, you have to fold it back before closing the slides. This is simply added to the closing slides SOP.
TV antenna down? ~ Check
Slides in? ~ Check
Water hose and electrical cable disconnected and stored? ~ Check
Bedroom door open and latched? ~ Check
We have a 2012 36RL with the original "suicide" door in the bedroom. It's been there 4 years so far and is just one item on our normal checklist. During the dealer's walk through he made it a point to emphasize the door and proper slide operation.
