I have researched options for satellites for our Redwood. We seem to find places loaded with trees, so we are opting for a portable satellite system. I have heard there are problems going thru the outside satellite hookup in the bay.
Some are saying the problem arises in the booster for the tv in the bedroom.
my question is anyone familiar and have you been able to get around the problem.
I do not have our system to date, so I have not tried to see if there is actually a problem.
really appreciate anyone’s advice in advance.
thanks.

Don't know which portable you're looking at, but it seems some don't like a cable run over 25 or 30 feet and just the RW internal cable is probably longer than that.  Some RWs have two Sat input in the Wet Bay, one going to the Bedroom, the other to the Living room.  You would need to buzz, tone, or meter the line to ensure it's connected and has no spliters in line.  On our '12 36RL the line to the living room was never terminated.

Alan, I have two satellite receptacles in the wet bay for an external satellite, but don't use them because we have one on top. But, I do use one of the coax connectors and cable to the LR TV for my cable internet when we are parked long term in Florida, so I know that cable is one of the orange cables behind the TV.

Here's what I do know from our portable satellite use with our Montana. We had the Winegard X2 receiver with dual LNBs that was supposed to support two TVs with different channels at a time. It never worked.  Dish even sent out a tech guy to our site to troubleshoot the problem, and he said he had never seen one work the way it was advertised to work. It was fine with one cable to one TV, but the dual thing would cause both TV satellite boxes to lock up during the setup. Had I known that at the time, I would not have spent the money on the more expensive X2.

So...I say that for two reasons: 1) Technology may have improved where that does work now. I don't know. and 2) If you are satisfied with one TV connected to one LNB and switching cable input from the LR to the BR when necessary, you should be very satisfied. Especially if your connections in the wet bay run to the LR and BR TVs. Then it's a simple input change at the wet bay.

I also had a pathway X2 at first because i thought i wanted it.. Like Paul stated, it NEVER worked as advertised. I will say this, the Redwood satellite wires were spot on in BOTH my 2015 and my 2020, i was very surprised !

I know have the Trav'ler and absolutely love it.
