Hello Redwood friends,

have any of you replaced your gate valves on the black and grey tanks? are they ALL 3" ??  or are the grey lines smaller?  How about stacked tanks, are the drains just slip fit into the tanks, or are they connected?

Reminder, I have a 2020 3991RD

lining up my to do list ..

Joe

@ford-truck-guy They provided some part information but could not confirm which one we need. We have purchased from them in the past with reasonable shipping.

These are actually fairly easy to relpace but can be time consuming. Most all the Redwoods have a 3" valve and plumbing for the black tank and the grey tanks are normally 1½" however, my rear kitchen grey tank is in fact a 3". The valves are available at most any RV parts store as they are standard and not Redwood specific. Unless the cable broke or came loose, the culprit is normally the valve drying out and freezing up or difficult to move. The big tip on the cable is to make sure it makes large sweeping turns and no tight turns. The cloroplast underbelly is easy to take down in the front, but in the middle or rear you may have to cut a window and then tape it closed.

Well, I had the RV mobile tech here to do the valve repairs. the rally tank valve was ok, the bathroom valve was pretty ,much inoperable .. he replaced that and found the old one was almost 100% stuck together by sand granules .... The blank tank was very hard to operate, after an hour for so of looking and thinking, we decided to NOT drop the tank and go to plan B.. we pulled the valve with a LONG set of pliers and it seamed to operate normally .. We re directed the cable and secured it in place where we could and the valve now operates better that the 1st day I got the RV new off the assembly line...
