My wife and I are brand new to this organization, and owning a 5th wheel. As you can imagine we have tons of questions. The biggest one at this point is what type of hitch to buy. We are purchasing 36FB and pulling with GMC 3500 HD with 5th wheel prep.
We have been reading this forum and getting lots of good advice. Looking forward to meeting you at rallies and/or camp grounds.
Welcome to the Redwood Owners forum, where you will finds lots of members willing to share their knowledge. Can't help with the hitch for the GM factory prep, but if it is similar to the Ford system, which is designed to fit the Reese Elite.

Hard to beat the B&W Companion Hitch and you don't need a slider.
I had the Reese Elite OEM on our Ford puck system, with the Trailair Tri-Glide on our Redwood. The Elite required an approach angle of around 30 degrees down in the back, and of course the Tri-Glide was angled the opposite when not loaded. I actually had fits getting those two to get along at hitch time, as the Tri-glide would drag across the top to level the Elite plate but the pin would "top-pin". I finally settled for having to back in, once the the tri-glide hit the plate a ways I would stop and lower the Redwood a ways, then finish backing up.
I don't think the flex are changes my issue, but just saying the B&W may not have that issue at all based on the approach angle.
In my opinion if you want a good quality, not overpriced, easily hitched/unhitched, & made in USA, B&W is the one you want. You can spend more for air bags, closed cell foam, or any number of other options, but the B&W is relatively lightweight to take in/out & I've been parked at some weird angles & never had an issue with connecting or disconnecting, plus great customer service.

We have the B&W and love it. Have about 20,000 towing miles on it and it has been flawless. Hitch and unhitch at most any angle. Only minor issue to keep note of is if you use a pad lock in stead of the safety pin in the release arm hole, make sure it's a smaller length shank and not one of the long ones. Sometimes the long one can not be pulled out of the hole when on an angle.

My 2015 has a curt Q24 and have been very happy with it it has rails and not factory puck setup
I pull with a new GMC 3500 with factory prep also. The B&W was overwhelmingly recommended in the forum and I love the heck out of it. Note to self, there is also a pin hole in the open position that saves tons of effort and using bungee cords to unhook. Look for it and use it to pin the latch open when unhooking. Unlike the kid that borrowed his father in laws fifth wheel though, front landing gear down and tailgate down first. 🙂

Welcome to the forum from North Texas!! There are many great choices for hitches out there depending on how much money you want to spend. After years of using many different brands I decided to try out a Trailer Saver air ride hitch (BD3). It is truly an amazing ride but new will very much hit your budget a little harder then many of the regular hitches. I found mine slightly used for a very good price on Ebay and would never pull another 5th wheel without one. One thing to remember about the hitch you choose is it goes with you everywhere once you find what you like. 2. It will last you for many years with proper maintenance. Even with the change of your house the hitch stays with you, unless it is part of the trade or sale. Also many of the 5th wheels today may already have a pin box air ride, which may be your case. If your new to you RW did not, the offset in cost may be worth the investment.
We pulled our 36FB with a 25k Reese Elite for a few years, and then switched over to a Comfort Ride Hitch.
We have a F350 factory installed puck system, don't know if that makes any difference. By the way... we have the Reese Elite for sale. $500.00 + shipping.
Welcome to the ROG. Our RW, with the TrailAir and Reese Elite slider in our previous F350 SWD, CC, short bed Lariat was excellent.
After learning, through a weigh-in at a RW rally in Shipshewana that the factory posted weights were significantly off we changed to our Silverado High Country 3500 long bed dually crew cab with a 25 K Reese Elite non-slider. The hitching up has been troublefree with the TrailAir and Reese Elite. Towing is almost too smooth and need to remind myself that there is a beast behind the truck.
