Just finally finished this project and will take it out tomorrow to see if it was worth it. Did the 4000, shackle and wet bolt upgrade, shock kit, seals and bearings.

Let us know how you like it. Met Sonny this weekend at Heartland Rally in Sevierville, TN. I am considering the Joy Rider 2 System.

Shane, the 4" raise. Does that mean you generated 4" more travel in the suspension?

No the centerpoint hangs down lower than the original. It lifted the trailer about 4". There is definately more suspension travel with this setup

What a difference on the road. I didn't tow it a long distance today but enough to see it doesn't bounce anywhere near as much on rough roads. Rides much smoother in the truck and when backing into my driveway you don't see the axels do that strange twisting that can scare you.

Now to finish the backup camera tomorrow. Disc conversion will be down the road since larger fuel tank and a new retractable bed cover comes first.
I have a tri-fold that is a little over a year old if anyone is interested that is close to me. I can give you a super deal. It just comes to close the RW and can't see my pin when hitching. The ford had more room then the new GMC.

Glad you like your new suspension.
I am very happy with my pace Edwards electric cover. What r u lookin at getting for a fuel tank. I like the Titan tank I like not having the box taken up with the auxiliary tank. I have had them before with and without the built in toolbax. With these new electric covers there is no need for a locking tool box in the bed

We had talked about the tank and yes I am doing the same as yours in a few weeks and this will also give me the option to ad another in the bed so I can go quite far at that point with about 125-158 gallons.
The cover I was looking at was the Patriot Stealth since I can't see the extra cost for electric.

Shane,
What is the height of your RW now? You must be close to the 13'6".
Here is some additional info on the shock kit for anyone looking to install.

The original kit needed the extension brackets for the RW that Sonny sent free of charge that included another set of lower brackets which you bolt together using the existing holes. You will need to pick up 2 additional bolts. He also sent new heavier gauge top U-bolt brackets

U-bolts are long enough and no need for longer ones. No extra threads but nut is flush with top of U-bolt

Top shock bracket center edge is located 4-5/8" to each side of center link bracket that is welded on the frame.

You asked for clearances with the shock.

When NO weight is on them if you measure from the bottom of the stationary shock top cover to center of bottom bolt it is 9-1/2"

When ALL weight is on them measuring same as above it is 5-1/2"

I checked the travel of the shock to make sure it would not bottom out and there is 3-1/2" to 4" beyond the full weight measurement so should be plenty of travel for the roads.

Hope this helps.

Steve

I have not measured it yet. Once I install the shocks and new tires I will hook up and level it out and get measurements out.I may need to add some blocks to the trailer axle but don't know for sure yet

Shane I heard there may be clearance issues with Joy Rider and Center Point suspension.

I will have my mechanic make them fit. Also I need to get with you and order tires and rims. I was hoping someone going to the rally would like to purchase mine and do the swap there. Doesn't look like it so I will get with you this week to have them shipped
Thanks

Easy fix Shane if they don't fit. Just have your guy make some new top bracket extenders inward and add a bit to the bottom bracket and all is good. Hammer and welder fixes everything! With what you have I can't see anymore then a few inches to modify.
If he can't do it, I can bring the welder and tools to rally and just bring the parts.... A few Beers and we will get it to fit. :woohoo:
