I know we talked about this, but cannot find anything anywhere....
I may upgrade to the new MORryde Step above but I am limited to space where I park the trailer.. Does anyone have a few moments to take 2 measurements for me ? I asked Rob at MORryde, and all he did was send me a copy of their qualifier page..
#1 - my RV is fairly close to a row of hedges, when deploying the steps, what is the measurement from the side of the camper to the edge of the steps when they are parallel to the ground?
#2 - when the steps are out and being used, what is the measurement from the side of the trailer to the farthest point of the farthest step?
Thanks, Joe
Hi Joe! I have the same problem as you, I’m waiting till the snow clears before I can get you a measurement. But I have the steps mine are the Lippert that came with the 2018. I am going to replace mine with the Mor Ryde that are strut assisted. I can’t tell you how big the difference is. I can literally lift them with one finger. They don’t need the locking latch. So far Mor Ryde doesn’t seem to be selling them except to the manufacturer but I’m sure they will soon. Really don’t upgrade unless it’s to the struts. I posted a video on Facebook group of me putting the stairs up with one finger. I struggle with the regular ones since I broke my wrist.

Thanks John, I am curious about those strut assisted steps..... You said you have a Facebook post ??
Will measure tomorrow for you. We had snow in Colorado today, so not leaving my chair. I will say... I LOVE my stairs. We don't have struts; but I would be able to lift the stairs down myself... but, I am not tall enough to reach the handle. One time we have noticed a tight fit is when we pull into truck stop or rest area and there are semi-trucks really close.

Don’t know if this will work, but I’m hoping this will take you to the video.

Thanks for the link, it did not work... I will try and check them out at the next RV show coming up..
Sorry. Basically it’s me broken wrist and all, lifting the stairs and putting them in the doorway with one finger. Literally from the ground to stowed with one finger. I wouldn’t do anything but the strut enabled.
Thats fine John,
I will look for a set in March at the local RV show..I watched a YouTube video from someone how got a set from their dealer, and installed them on their Ceder Creek.. They did not raise or lower them, but they look very interesting.
One of my concerns in the inside door trim, he had to cut his trim about 22” up from the floor to mount the angle mounts. I cannot tell how wide that mount is, but looking at the tv I was trying to determine if my trim ( which is 1-3/4”) would be wider than the angle mount..?? If that mount is narrower, cutting that molding would be tricky!
I might have to bribe Steve and Char with alcohol to to the job ! ! 🙂
Joe,
Forgot to measure earlier, sorry. Steps extend out 39".
Thank you, is that when they are at the 90 degree angle from the RW?
Joe, we have the first generation of the Mor/ryde Step Above that we purchased at the Rally two years ago.
Just measured our 4 step version straight out from the RW and it 55", so when deploying them you do need a large clearance area.
I actually drilled out the upper rivets and have pins installed, so when we leave Florida the steps will be removed and left in our storage shed, and we'll use our OEM steps during our summer travels. Works out okay for us.
Joe - the other option is the removable steps. You wind up with two small brackets on the coach just above the step opening and the steps clip into them. I went this way as I didn't want the steps folding up into the coach when wet, dirty, etc and also wanted to keep the originals for traveling when we didn't want the extra width. They're not that heavy and fit just fine in the truck bed when we travel. Let me know if you would like pictures.
