Debbie and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend another Redwood National Rally this year! We had a wonderful time and plan on attending the 2018 Rally next year. This was our 3rd National Rally, and we were also able to attend the Regional Rally two years ago in Canton Texas (unfortunately, due to lack of participation, the remaining Regional Rally's that had been scheduled were cancelled).
The subject of again having Regional Rally's came up at this year's National Rally. I personally believe this is something that could be very possible, BUT FIRST, we would have to demonstrate that there is enough INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION, to make Regional Rally's worthwhile.
To that end, do we have enough folks interested in getting some informal get-to-gathers set up in different parts of the country? Debbie and I would be willing to work on something in Texas as a possible location.

May I suggest starting a new thread in the Local & Regional Social Events, inviting others to join you for a social event or mini rally.
We held a lunch in the Spring for the Pacific NW and had 6 attendees.
If it's during the winter, look for us to help set up a gathering

I'm thinking that Andy, Terry Barber and our neighbour Ozzie ( an ROG member) will probably be in the Borrego Springs California area in January and February 2018, as we will be.
Perhaps we could arrange an informal get together, and if other members are in the area we can get a few more participants.
I really like the idea of regional rally, and I don't know enough of past history but do know that there was difficulty getting commitments and interest. Has anyone thought along the lines of regional "get-togethers"? Nothing formal - just a group of Redwood owners that pick a 2 or 3-day weekend and hang out together? Just need a contact person in various regions who would be willing to pick a date and place. Start simple, no organizational cost, and see if we can begin gathering some momentum. We'll be in Florida for the winter and would gladly "host" a GTG. Just an idea.

That's why I mentioned "gathering" above. A formal "rally" takes planning and could not be pulled off for this winter. Gatherings, GTG, etc. can planned in a short time and don't require any expenditures. Once a weekend is selected, the planned attendees can decide what group activities they want to have. Although I learned a lot at the Texas Regional Rally, a lot of what I learned was from other attendees. Looking forward to getting together with other owners some time soon.
We are in Louisiana and would love to come to anything north of Tampa for a get together. Anything south of Tampa becomes a long trip for a short stay.

We arrive Indio on Feb 1st, so Judi and I can take the drive down to Borrego Springs for the day. How about we plan for February at Borrego.
In March, Ken is at the same campground as us in Indio, only a few sites away. I can plan a lunch in Indio for March, possibly same place we met earlier this year.
We arrive Borrego on Feb 8. Will be in AZ in Jan.
We are new members, but we'd love a regional rally. We are in Texarkana, not too far from Canton.
While a regional rally is definitely of interest, the ROG is still gaining experience in organising the annual rally, which we assumed control of in 2016. We are also totally managed by fellow owners, who freely volunteer their time, so we must ensure we have the resources prior to embarking on a regional rally.
However, getting local meetings/rallies/lunches organised is a great idea. In the Pacific NW, we have already held 2 lunches.
If you want to organise a local gathering, please post your intended location and dates to determine others interest.

About 3 years ago, there was an attempted rally in Canton, Texas (close to you). We don't recall the total attendance but it estimated at about 10 rigs? The resort was fantastic. It was held at the Mill Creek Ranch Resort. If it were held again, we would consider it... Local to us would be within 4 hours of the DFW area.
