President’s Summary, March 2020

The ROG board held its monthly meeting on March 10, 2020 at 11:00 EST. A quorum was present.

  1. Financial Report: Although Jeff Robinson (Treasurer) was not present on the call, he had provided the February financial report reflecting $9,247 income, $317 expense, with an ending bank balance of $25,550.
  1. Nominations Report: Joe Dombrowski (Nominations) was not present but submitted his report by email. The board recommended that Dave Connor, Karen Stevenson, and Pamela Neth be nominated for election to the ROG Board at the Annual General Meeting in July at the Rally.
  1. 2020 Rally: Lisa Price (Rally Manager) reported that she continues to work with vendors, activities and Redwood preparing for the rally. She is working to resolve an issue with the main rally tent (size and availability), and has several volunteers working with her.  79 Redwoods are registered for the rally to date.
  1. Membership: Jim Wolfe (Membership) presented his report by email. We added 6 new ROG members in February. Paul Bridges will research the history of ROG Charter Membership and its associated benefits.
  1. Technical: The board asked Lisa Price to once again approach Redwood about two major issues: 1) Install Sailun tires as standard equipment on new coaches, and 2) Offer the MORryde Independent Suspension as an option.
  1. Marketing: Jim Wolfe is still working on the apparel vendor and the ROG stickers for new Redwoods and the membership, and Eileen Lurker is working on the yard signs for the Rally.
  1. Website: Paul Bridges (President) reported that problems/issues in the sign up process are declining.  The main issue continues to be that new signups are not verifying their email through the verification process. The verification email tends to go to spam so is not obvious, and if the user’s email is not verified they will not be able to log in, even though they have registered.  He is working on ways to keep that account verification email from being detected as spam. He was also informed that drop-down menus seem to disappear too early on some devices and that is resulting in some frustration.
  1. New business:
    1. Paul Bridges discussed some possibilities, options and need of compensating Lisa Price for her work with Rally.
    2. Paul Bridges asked for the board to submit its reports early so they can be published prior to the Rally and avoid the need to read reports at the AGM.
    3. Paul will research bylaws but is asking the board to select its new officers prior to the AGM so they can be announced there, instead of waiting until after the meeting.
