Before we can put our verbiage together for our appeal to the owners to become members of the ROG, it's important to really solidify the REASONS for joining a paid membership to ROG. We do need to establish what those different levels of membership entail, I know.
It seems like a moving target to me as to what we are going to be able to deliver to paid members. Can we please put these things down formally so that it's easier to understand? Now we are of the understanding that the drawings will not be available, and it begs the question, "What ELSE are we planning on offering that will be declined?" I think we need to take a solid look at this. Let's use this forum to discuss by replying to this topic, if that is alright. I will begin by putting down what we came up with earlier which originated at the last rally:

Additionally, Elliott will be in need of this information and will need help drafting the new member outreach mailing verbiage. The most critical piece is that we have a postcard sized area to sell the idea that the ROG is an opportunity not to be missed. For many of these people (on the initial outreach) we will not get another opportunity to reach them!
Of course you have the physical assets (one up stuff, plaque etc etc) but from a website standpoint I would say access to the following should require a paid membership:
- Anything that requires personal storage such as the Blog Postings, Photo and Video Gallery from the users profile tab
- Access to certain resources such as the manuals
- The ability to view the results of the annual owners survey like we did last year for the Rally
- The ability to view the results of a vote on a specific topic. Feature in Community Builder to run voting contests for an article (page) or forum post
- Ability to participate in or start a GroupJive group - coming soon
From a rally standpoint, I have seen in order to attend a rally you must be a member of the group. For instance EAA, a large aircraft owners group, requires a membership if you want to go to Oshkosh, their annual fly in.
We could sort of do the same, negotiate a discount at the camp ground that is equal to or more than an annual membership in the ROG.
Either way we need to keep the cost very low so the members don't feel like this is a $$ making operation. We need to be on message and say this is a volunteer group and only looking to cover costs for an ad free, member friendly, safe and enjoyable environment and experience.
I also think we should consider a 30 day free trial all the time so people can get a feel for what we have to offer and then decide do they want to give up their credit card info or just stay basic (free).
This is all I have at the moment.......
