Problem
The front landing gear will not operate using the control pad, due to a lack of power or faulty motor. How to extend and/or retract the front landing gear using the manual override procedure.
Challenges
Lippert's online technical information includes many systems and it is challenging to find the system used in our Redwoods, showing the location of the valves.
Tools Required
- Electric drill
- Torch
- 5/32" allen wrench
- 1/4" hex
Procedure
You must first locate the manual override valve for the front landing gear. Most Lippert documentation shows these valves are located on the hydraulic manifold located in the front compartment, above the house batteries. This is incorrect, as the valve is located at the top of one of the two front landing gear legs.
Start on the driver's side, open the propane tank access door and locate the top of the landing gear. The valve should be at the top and facing the front of the coach. If not, try the passenger side.
Once you locate the valve, insert the 5/32" allen wrench and rotate clockwise to provide manual override. Opening this valve provides manual override control of BOTH front landing gear legs.
Install a 1/4" hex bit in an electric drill. Locate the hydraulic pump/electric motor, which is located in the front compartment, above the batteries. It is normally on the driver's side bulkhead, probably at or above the level of the access door. Remove the plastic cover from the top of the motor and insert the 1/4" hex bit. Operate the drill forward to extend the legs, or in reverse to retract the legs.
Once the operation of the front landing gear is complete, close the override valve located on top of the leg, by rotating anti-clockwise until closed. This returns the system to automatic operation.
Refer to the Lippert manual for safety considerations when performing this procedure.

I think for us Americans you might consider changing "Torch" to "Flashlight" - LOL
