On our trip to the Yukon, I started a spreadsheet of where we stayed. It shows what's available for hook ups, amenities, type of park, etc and if a Redwood would fit. I'm thinking if it's possible, to have this somewhere here where everyone can add to it. If it's not possible, I think I can keep it updated if the info is sent to me. I broke it down to Province/State so you can reference just where you might be travelling. What is everyone's thoughts?

Looks like the spreadsheet did not come through.. Will try again. Also, I posted this in RV Lifestyle section.

That sounds like a really good idea!

One thing I like to do is check out the campsites we will be staying at and look for reviews online. Most of them are outdated, so it would be nice if we had one here on ROG where people could add their recent visits and impressions.

Ken A. is this possible?

Don
Thats a great idea. Often on the forum you have people asking about good spots to stop in their travels

I just wonder if we could make this work with a "rating" system that is actually fair. I've seen some questionable "10's" out there that should be "5's".

If that kind of system is implemented, there should be baselines for an equal rating system and a comment block for the feedback.

There should also be space for everyone to input $$$ expenses $$$ and local amenities (i.e. clean restrooms, swimming pool, laundry, etc).

As you can see, that would pretty much be a web site of it's own...

I would accept the opinion of anyone on here that recommended a park to be in the 8-10 range without having to actually rate them. As for us we don't use most of facilities (laundry, showers) so we don't usually pay any mind
to reviews about them. Also if you'll notice in other reviews that they will rate a very nice park really low because the "free wifi" is weak at times, if you absolutely need WiFi bring your own.
Just know if I recommend a site on here it'll be a goodun!

Looks like I need to explain this sheet more.
I have NOT rated any campground. When we travel, if we've been dry camping for a week, then anything with a laundry, water tap and sanidump would be a 10. If I'm dry camping, anything with a lake and forest all around is a 10. If my spot can get solar, it's a 12.
This was mainly made to show if a 62 foot Redwood/truck combo would fit ( have come across a few places that say no problem, only to find that there is no way we can fit), CG name and phone, what town, what hookups,30 or 50 amp, any amenities, pit toilets or flush, cost per night, back ins or pull throughs, if site was carved into forest or an open gravel lot. I think I need to come up with a different format for this sheet as the excel sheet will not upload to the forum

Don,

Just checked the accepted extensions and note the older Excel .xls is acceptable, but the newer one from about Version 2007 and newer (.xlsx) is not included.

May I suggest saving a new copy of your file in an older file format, which may lose some features, but should then be able to upload. Failing that if you send me the file I will work on it and try to get it uploaded.

I have misplaced your phone number, do you mind sending it again in a PM.

Got it figured out now. I don't know the logistics of having this here and someone trying to download while I'm updating it. Maybe email me info and I update forum sheet weekly? Any other notions or comments??

I'm wondering if we could figure out a way to "code" our reviews on other sites. Since there are some sites that are already set up for reviews. Maybe a link on this RW forum to those. At the end of a review we could add... RW Owner.

I faithfully try to review every place we stay. I set up a template so I am consistent to note site size, Verizon and DIRECTV coverage, road conditions, etc.
