This trip is definitely worth the elbow grease I'll need to get our baby clean again! 450 miles of gravel road. Spots of it, a whole 15 miles an hour. (Mud when it's wet.) Judith has vetoed another trip up here. We need about an hour every time we stop for the night to sweep and vacume the dust from inside. One of our slides does not seal tight. The scenery is fantastic! We're stopping every couple minutes to take pictures. There is daylight 24 hours a day which is kinda throwing us off a bit. Saw another Redwood at Teslin-Yukon about a month ago. On his way to Alaska. Have heard of another Redwood, but I suspect it was him.(he's not on any forums)We're in Inuvik NT for about another week. Will be another month seeing what we missed in Yukon on the way up. Then over to Fort McMurray, Alberta to see our newest Grandson. He will be 6 months old.
Happy travels all!

How exciting! Sometimes, the journey is worth all the cleaning afterwards 😉
If you want, we'd love to see some pictures and post them on the Redwood Facebook. My email is cmuffoletto@crossroadsrv.com should you ever want to email the pictures!
I'm sure the folks here on the forum would love to see them posted here as well!
Safe travels!

I think by reading your post, your in Alaska. We'd love to see some pics. Where did you run into the dirt /gravel roads? We would like to get up that way in the near future. How is the weather this time of year? Did you stay long? I've heard that once you cross into Canada and start heading toward Alaska that the road turns to gravel. Is that true? Is that the road you had to endure?

Christian...I'll post some more pics when I can sort out a few good ones. Everyone that we've talked to LOVE the slide in slide feature!
GipCTravelers...We're in the Northwest Territories. Inuvik is the farthest north you can drive in summer. They are building a summer road to Tuktoyaktuk that should be finished 2018. The Dempster Hwy is all gravel and runs from outside of Dawson City Yukon to Inuvik NT. There are 2 landing craft type river ferries that you must take near the end. The RW needed some planks and prayers to get on and off the last one. Pushed some gravel with the Gen. tailpipe. It's a lot warmer than I expected. 72-90 F. We're here for about a week then we'll spend a month or so checking out some more of the Yukon. There is so much to see up here that we will do another trip that will be for Northern BC, more of Yukon, and Alaska. Hwy 35(Casiar Hwy) is very narrow. No shoulders and no centreline. I'm working on an excell spreadsheet giving info on RW. Size sites and amenities we've been in. I'll post it when we finish this trip in October. When were you planning on coming up?

Don,

Info on your journey will be great. We are planning on traveling the Yukon, Alcan Hwy then down the west coast next summer.

Really looking forward to it and any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It will be just a little longer...

We have 2 kido's left that we're waiting on. Two years max. Maybe sooner. We're putting together a scrap book of all the places we want to see and you're in one of the key spots we'd like to spend some time.

If you get to it, it would be interesting to see your route maps and pics along the way. I know time is hard to come by when you're traveling, but we'd love to see them some time.

I didn't catch whether or not you're attending the rally this year. Will you be there?

Happy travels and we're so jealous. We get to take local trips for now but we're looking forward to the day when we get to go full time. We're trying to gather up the assets now and downsize as much as possible before the big day. If you have any suggestions in that direction, we'd love to hear about it.

Have fun! :woohoo:
