So we are here in Port Aransas at the Gulf Waters RV Resort sunPort Aransas, TX and would you know it, I've counted no less than 7 Redwoods. Lots of DRVs and Landmark 365s also, but not sure I've ever seen so many Redwoods in a park this size.

Harvey has for sure left its mark, some parts of town completely flattened, but here they stand tall and as the billboard says when you drive into town:

"Dear Harvey - You came and blew and we are still here!"

Just saying, don't mess with Texas or the American Spirit.

Happy and Health Holiday to all!

We are in Alabama and headed that way next month. We've driven about 2k miles this trip and stayed at a bunch of campgrounds and have only seen 1 Redwood, and it was on the road.

What's the condition of Gulf Waters? Are they fully up and running?

Gulf Waters the park is up and running. They were closed for 31 days. Only issue lately has been the cable.

That said, some of the town has been literally flattened. Many, perhaps most, of the restaurants and stores are either gone, closed for repair or operating minimally. For example we went by the ACE Hardware yesterday and they have the store completely gutted and selling some stuff out of 3 PODS and a semi truck in the parking lot.

According to local estimates they are looking at 2 years to get back to 50% operational and 5 years to get to 90%.

Also the road onto the island both sides still have lots of water and they are still putting up new power lines and poles.

Luckily Flour Bluff and Corpus Christi aren't too far and stuff there is good.

I'm glad we showed up. I would have felt really bad just bailing on them. We are doing fine and enjoying being here.
