Does anyone have an extended warranty. Any idea which is the best company.
Rick,
Affirmative, we do have an extended warranty on our coach. While I normally never purchase them on other appliances, electronics, cars, etc. as this is our first RV, I purchased the warranty to help while figuring out how everything works.
We opted for 7 years. Our warranty is a Canadian company - First Canadian, so probably wouldn't help. The Ultimate package covers basically everything, including the factory installed electronics & appliances. Deductible is $100, which is cut in half, if repairs conducted by the selling dealer. It is also transferable, if we sell the coach.
We had a GS extended warranty for a while. There are two types - the Dealer sold short term they push at closing, and the month to month you get after purchase. We had the month to month and because the Redwood was only a year old, it wasn't bad on pricing (<$60/month for $100 deductible I believe but not positive). With that plan you can go wherever you want for repair, including mobile repair. Also if you are seasonal, they allowed you to raise the deductible during storage which cut the monthly rate in thirds.
We actually never used it. Not that we didn't have issues, we just never bothered and ended up fixing it ourselves. As a result we dropped it after a while.
I did quite a bit of research when we bought the Redwood - wanting to have some information in hand for comparison to what the selling dealer was going to push. Looked at Good Sam but was not enamored with having to use CW for service. Wholesale Warranties had many positive reviews on the Montana Owners forum plus they will pay for Mobile RV techs, and help coordinate any warranty work needed. And their price was almost half what the dealer was pushing. 6 year warranty plus tire warranty plus consequential damage coverage. Haven't had to use any of the coverage but glad I have it. We are full timers.
