Thanks to my new friends from the Canton rally, looks like I'm buying a new truck! I want to get a truck bed cover that folds back or rolls back and will work while pulling my fifth wheel. I am considering the "Bakflip" F1. Does anyone have any experience with this one or similar products?
I currently have a rolling lock on my GMC, unfortunately, when backing up with sharp turns the kingpin arm? clips the rails of the rolling lock on the side of the bed....damaging it. I want to avoid that on my new truck-thoughts?
Thanks! Chris
I used that cover on the old F350 long box and had no problems.
When towing, we open the rear 3 sections, leaving the section closest to the cab in the closed position. We had sufficient clearance and towed over 15,000 miles without issue. No problems with tight turns while reversing into campsites.
I also used that cover for many years with no issues.. I bow use the Pace Edwards jack rabbit.. It s basically the same as the roll-n lock.... Wouldn't be without it
I have had the Truxedo Duce on my past 2 pickups. What I like about the Duce, is that it also opens from the front, cab end. It's hinged and folds back for access to the front of the bed. Helpful when not towing and accessing the in bed fuel tank, tools, etc.
Otherwise, it rolls up from the tailgate and sits next to the window. I've been very happy with it.

We have the tri-fold back flip and it's a great cover and the only down side to it for me is that you can not see the pin when hitching. As someone here mentioned to me, I put a piece of reflective tape on the cover to line me up and no problem since. We will be looking into something different soon because I am going to add a 90 gal fuel tank.

We have the Roll-n-Loc on our F-350 and an auxiliary fuel tank tucked underneath it. Very happy with the way it protects the bed when not towing... but we also had Rhino-liner installed on it too.
Good luck in your search, and happy travels!
We just had a RETRAX cover installed on our 2015 Dodge 3500 DRW mega cab short bed. I tie down the 5th wheel when not towing our Redwood coach. I use two ratchet ropes purchased from Camping World and that provides about 3/4 inch clearance from the top of the 5th wheel to the cover. The cover locks in any position and retracts into the container in the bed of the truck. We are very happy with this product and highly recommend it. We used our old sliding hitch and purchased rails that allowed us to use that hitch (needed two sets of rails to fit our hitch to the truck). Cost of the cover was $1400 installed.

X2 on the roll-n-lock. I've never had any issues with the pin box hitting the rails. The difference in setup between brands on these trucks must be drastically different - hitch position, width, height of bed rails, etc... A lot of guys have hit that electrical box too, I think mostly on the chevs but I'm not sure.
I have the Pace Edwards electric cover which is great. Similar to the roll and lock. I did rub the corner of the trailer on it pulling out of a gas station. Because I did not have enough clearance over my bed rails with my old pinbox. My only complaint on it is the size of the monstrous key fod to operate it
