Looked at a few Redwoods vs. Grand Design Solitude models and was impressed. Seem to have a few added features vs GD.
Any feedback on newer models, likes. Dislikes, issues?
Thanks
Alan

In my opinion RWs & the Solitude are not in the same category, they are nice but a bit lower end with all the same quality control issues as any other brand.
The RWs would be comparable to Landmarks & Mobil Suites, the Solitude more like the Big Horns or Montanas.
Some will disagree comparing RWs to MSs, but again my opinion, the only difference is more weight & a lot more $$.
We have a couple friends with Solitudes & at purchase GD was trying to build a quality 5er, since Winnebago bought them I don't know what they are like.

I agree with Danny, the GD is a step or 2 down from the RW’s for sure. We were looking at those before we pulled the trigger on the RW. M

I think the Solitude has some "pretty window dressing", we traveled for 8 months with people with a Solitude. They are very happy with theirs. We noticed quite a few quality differences, however, there is a lot of money on purchasing this one.

We talked to a sales person at a dealership (they knew we were NOT buying)... he said if 10 rigs are sold, they will get 9 Montana's back for issues, 3 Redwoods with issues and 1 Mobile Suites.

We would have considered the Mobile Suites but they weigh quite a bit more. We also had to consider the price difference between the RW and the MS.

We walked into our RW and it felt like home to us. We had done our research and so I knew both the RW and MS could be a good choice.

I forgot to mention the MAIN reason we started discounting the nGD . . It does not have a rear cap... To me, that is huge when buying a luxury Fifth Wheel.. That is just my opinion

Starting to look for a new 5th wheel. The increase in GVWR on Redwoods could mean a new truck too, so we will be looking at other manufacturers as well.

The Grand Design 310GK-R was a close runner-up to our RW 31SL. We flip-flopped several times. We loved the GD large windows, but the air conditioner noise level was a deal breaker. We finally concluded that the RW provided more features (like full body paint) and a better value for the money. We haven't regretted our decision so far. All of the problems to date are industry wide, like Lippert greasy brakes and slop due to the manufacturing speed.

Mobile Suites? If I were looking at 5ers again I don't think I could avoid looking at them. They do offer some construction that can't be matched except by custom, like frame and walls. Of course if you are replacing both, you are in MH territory as well..... if it fits your style.
