Inexpensive trailers and fifth wheels, but lots and lots of high priced motor homes, with Entegra stealing the show.

I went to the Atlantic City RV Show this past weekend and was chatting with my buddy who is the GM at CW in Lakewood NJ.
I asked him why the highest models usually are not at these types of shows.. He stated that it's driven by the consumer, they traditionally are there to look at entry to mid level rv's.. For the ones that want higher, they can always UP-Sell.

And they don't probably like the idea of cleaning or repairing the higher end units after the show. Do you know how many unruly kids there are? And you're right...If I had that kind of high end, unlimited funding, I would just go to the store and order what I wanted anyway. Why fight the crowds at the RV show?

Hmmmm. I guess that explains why we go to the RV shows...(we're not rich)... 😉

That's right Greg, If money was no object I would order by phone.

Back when I was looking for my KZ fiver we were at a show looking, I walked in one and my feet stuck to the floor, someone spilled soda all over the floor.
A few weeks later we went to the dealer to talk pricing on ordering one and while there, I walked in the same trailer.. yup, still sticking to the floor.. I did not order from them.

Just got back from the Dallas RV Show...It's usually the largest in this area...

This show was definitely for the new entry and weekenders this year. Very few Full time units on the floor. Very few Class A's on the floor. Way less than usual. That weekend market must be extremely HOT!

Anyway, There was 1 Redwood on display. The 39MB. It was nice we'll admit.

As for other models on display, there was the brand new DRV Mobile Aire, The Montana Big Sky, the Valanto (Tiffins entry to the market), and the Landmark 360 RD model.

Of the models on display for this show, the most aesthetically pleasing unit was probably the Landmark 360 RD. Primarily for colors selected. It was more of the traditional colors many of us have come to enjoy. The DRV Aire and Redwood were geared more for younger crowds as they were more of the "modern" flavors. MSRP pricing for the Redwood was at $125,000. The DRV at $111,000 (show priced at $92,000) and the Landmark we did not get look at the price. Each had their own amenities so pricing would be different.

On the Redwood, they had this one with 8000# axles and H rated tires. YEA!

The Mobile Aire had the 7000# axles, G rated tires and electric brakes (although oversized at 4" shoes). I asked about disc options, 8000# axles and H rated tires. At this time, they are not readily providing those items but they were willing to work with us by swapping out our new set up and installing them on the new rig.

As for the Mor-Ryde Pin Box, we stopped by their booth to discuss how they work. Many of you have moved to this pin box. I wish there was a way to test this without have to buy one first. Based on the display that Mor-Ryde had on site, the side sway can take up to 3/4" on each side motion. The front to back was 1" in each direction. BUT, for the up and down, there really isn't anything. So I went to check the Flex Air. Basically, it seemed to have front and back motion, no side motion BUT it did have the shock and a donut on the front mount. Without having used either (as we still have the Tri-Glide), it appears by design that the new Flex-Air might win out.

I then asked about the Mor-Ryde SRE4000 suspension. Amazingly, the manufacturer rep informed me and proved it in the brochure that SRE 4000 was NOT the one to use when you have 8000# axles. They use the SRE 3000. It was much lighter weight and really looked cheap. But he states that the SRE 4000 is not to be used for our rig. Back to Lippert CenterPoint I guess...

As many know, we recently changed out the axles and went to disc brakes. The Mor-Ryde wet-bolt shackles are much heavier duty and worth the money. I did find out from the Mor-Ryde rep that 3 1/2" shackles are available versus the 2.25" shackles recently installed. I don't know what difference this might make on the overall height of the rig, but the 2.25" shackles I have do appear to be stretched out to the max. I think it might be worth changing these out to prevent damage to the existing Equaflex suspension.

In all, there were only about 6 Motorhomes at this show. Maybe next time...

Oh and by the way...A bad day at the RV show is always better than a good day at work!

Oh...And by the way again...It was nice to put a face to a name! Carl and Patti...We meet them at the RV show today. And you're right Patti! You all started that blog on the caravan! 😉

Look at the last post and I have the campgrounds listed all the way there. The only one we stopped at is the one in Yellow. On the way back, we took a different route and had a stop in LaPorte, Indiana. Then, the next night we stopped at that same yellow marked campground as we got closer to home.
