We found out this week George has a torn rotator cuff and torn bicep tendon. The surgery will mean 6 weeks in a shoulder sling and then 4 to 6 months rehab. Because of our insurance the surgery and rehab has to be done in Colorado. We are expect the surgery to be mid-August. So, guess we are going to try to find a place to park near Colorado Springs for 6 months or so. We gave some thought to finding a furnished apartment for the short term, but we really want to stay in our home.
It certainly isn't a crisis, but it is a challenge. Not sure if I am looking for suggestions about making it easier... or just assurance that we can manage Colorado winter with his limited mobility.
Sorry to hear this. I think kaidecel stayed in Colorado last winter in his. Talk to the local campgrounds as they should be able to give you a good idea of what you would need to do to have the trailer winter ready. Shoveling snow will be one of them. Skirting heat tape for lines, additional heat in basement, large propane tank etc
Sorry to hear George is going to have to have surgery. There are a lot of folks with cold weather experience that should be able to help with the winter prep. On the bright side, you should have some beautiful scenery during the recovery period. Plus the experience of winter living!
