Anyone towing a Redwood with the tri-glide hitch option and B&W companion hitch with a Ram Mega Cab? I currently have a 2012 Ford F-350 SRW and am considering a RAM Mega Cab. Just curious if there is enough clearance cap to cab and the back of the tri-glide to the tailgate. Thanks

FYI - the fords been great just upgrading to a dually and the mega cab is tempting since I have 3 kids.

We now have a 2015 Dodge Laramie Laredo mega cab dually, with 4 wheel drive and a sliding hitch and the 4:10 rear. We take 2 to 3 Grandchildren with us when we travel and our 2 oldest Grand girls have traveled cross country with us twice and up to Canada from our home in Fl. Our previous vehicle was a 2008 Dodge Resistor model dually mega cab with a sliding hitch, that we transferred to our new truck. We would not own a different type vehicle or hitch. We also have the tri-glide air pin box.

Do you think you could make it without the slider hitch or do you think its a necessity? The reason I ask is one of the mega cabs I looked at has the hitch prep in it and I cant seem to find anyone who makes a slider hitch for the RAM 5th wheel hitch prep. I love my B&W so thats the first place I looked and they have a hitch to fit the RAM hitch prep but they don't make a slider for one with the hitch prep. Thanks

Those mega cabs are nice! We looked at them ourself, but I too was worried about the short bed. In retrospect I think we would have been fine.

I have the exact configuration you are asking about, only in the 4wd version.
I have the slider version of the B&W but have yet to use it due to the front cone design of the RW.
IMHO, this is about as perfect of a set up as u can get minus the bed space you lose in a short bed.
With the fw hooked up I can still have 4-5 nights of firewood,my 2 Honda generators with extra gas in the truck bed.
And the ample storage space in the RW picks up the rest.
You will not be sorry with the mega cab dually, with its comfort, power and stability towing you fw.
The mega cab/RW combo is our 2nd fw and tow vehicle and our 4th rv

My truck hasn't arrived yet but it sounds the same or similar to yours, just hope I am as lucky on the MPG's. (2015 ram 3500 mega cab 4x4 aisin with 3:73)

Still debating on which B&W hitch option to go with. I already own the companion and am debating on if I should just buy the turnover ball and convert the factory hitch prep and use my current hitch or if I should buy the base puck system and use my current hitch head. The turnover ball route is much cheaper (about half the price / around $300+) but I get a few more inches of adjustment (front and rear)out of the puck base ($600+). The other plus of the turnover ball is.........if I must have a slider they sell one; whereas they don't have a slider for the pucks yet. The other plus of the puck is it has a higher weight rating....but not sure I need it. Decisions/Decisions!

I finally got my truck and B&W hitch in. So my next question is..............for those of you running a RAM 3500 4x4 and a B&W 5th Wheel hitch, at what height do you have your hitch set at? (I think the choices are 16, 17, & 18 or something really close to that.) And if you have this configuration on a mega cab, how far back do you have it set (I am guessing all the way back.)?

Thanks

You have two options. You can get rear blocks off of a 3/4 ton or you can purchase 2" or 3" lowering blocks from an aftermarket shop. If I am not mistaken both JC Whitney and Summit Racing carry lowering kits for RAMs for somewhere around $100 or so.
