I recently picked up my rig from service. My dealer was closing and I was trying to beat rush hour traffic and I hooked up and towed about 100 miles home. Upon getting home and unhitching I noticed my lubrication plate was missing from my king pin assembly. I'm guessing someone had swiped it while it was at my dealer and I didn't notice it was missing when I hitched up. I was stupid for not looking closer. Basically I towed 100 miles without any grease between the hitch (B&W Companion) and the baseplate. As far as I can tell there is no damage to either the hitch or the baseplate except for galling of the gray paint on the Companion hitch plate. There is no gouging on the metal of either the hitch plate or base plate. I didn't notice anything unusual when I was towing. I purchased a new lubrication plate. Should I be concerned going forward? Thank you.

Wouldn't worry, as I had to do the same a couple of years ago. Forgot to buy a spare before we left and the lub plate gave up while hitching up. Couldn't find an RV parts/dealer anywhere close.

Think I added a little grease and towed for a day. Purchased a couple of lub plates the next day. No issues.

Thank you. In my case there was NO grease as I've only used a lube plate and didn't realize it was missing. 100 miles of painted metal against painted metal! Perhaps there might have been a little bit of grease on the trailer base plate from when it was delivered to the dealer as a new unit.

I wouldn't worry.
On a different note, I just ordered theEZ Snap shades (were in Page, AZ, 98 is a cool day). Are you still happy with them ? Did they make a difference in interior temps ? We have no shade at all.

Thanks Piperguy. I am very very happy with my EZ Snap shades. We've had temperatures here up to 93 degrees and my coach sits with most of the windows toward a southeast exposure so I get full sun on the dining/recliner slide out all morning until mid-day. Before I put on my shades my living room AC could not keep a set temp of 77 degrees and ran constantly even with all the shades pulled down. You could put your hand up to the inside of the interior shade and feel the heat behind the shade. The EZ Snap shades block almost all the heat. I don't even pull my privacy shades down and love that I can see out my windows. We have had a few storms with some pretty good wind and I haven't had any issues with the shades coming loose. My AC now holds set temp and cycles on and off normally. These shades will pay for themselves quickly! Also since I mounted them directly on the glass my windows are fully functional and open for our cool Colorado nights.

If you want a bit of lubrication without the greasy mess, just spray both sides of the disc with a silicone spray occasionally.
