Steve - does your Atta tank have a fuel hose fitting on the bottom or side near the bottom ? I'm looking at a RDS tank and waiting for a call back from them to see if they make a version like Atta for the Roll n Lock. The RDS tank is quite a bit less expensive and uses a gravity fill into the filler neck rather than a pump and gauge and all the hardware. If they don't make a version for the cover, then I'll get the Atta but would pr for not to have to deal with the $$ and hassle of the pump.

I installed an RDS tank, gravity fill... works great. We got it from Northern Tool.

I've never had an issue fueling my F350 (2015) in the truck lanes, but also have issues with the bulk DEF. I've found some (key word some) Pilots, FJ's, Love's etc etc. do have a small adapter which you can get at the cashier when you prepay that will fit on the DEF spigot to downsize it to fit my truck. If they don't have the adapter then I've learned a gentle squeeze on the trigger gets the job done but isn't fun and almost always overflows :(.

Recommend using rubber (or other type) of gloves as I don't want to handle DEF directly even on the adapter. I get my gloves in bulk at Costco in the pharmacy department.

Totally as a side note, we also use the truck lanes for driver swaps and bathroom breaks provided there is a free lane. We just pull through as if we just fueled, go inside or just swap and back on the road. Works great for a quickie.

Vaughan,
My tank has a top mounted sending unit with both supply and vent coming out. I have the pump mounted on the frame just under the tank then tied into the line. The auto fill kit comes with everything you need and I found the hardest part was wiring it just because of these new trucks don't come apart as easy as the old ones. I can take a look tonight but I am pretty sure there is another plug on the side or back since I do remember it was an option to work both ways.

Take note that he gravity feed is not legal in most states but I think you can add a auto check valve that may change that.

That is exactly how we do it. Unhook drive to town and fuel up.

Steve, that's what the RDS system uses, a oneway check valve that goes into the filler neck. Pretty slick setup. Friend has one and was showing it to me. Nothing to monitor and when your fuel gauge actually starts to go down you know the auxiliary is empty and the main tank is starting to draw fuel.

How much snow are you digging out from ?? We got about 4" but it all turned to an icy mix and is a mess.

That sounds like it will work well. There really is no great advantage to the auto fill except having a fuel gauge in the truck. Starts to fill at 1/4 tank and brings it back to 3/4 and shuts off.

Snow.....Not quite as bad here as expected but ended up with about 12" and lots of ice today.

With the "improved" filler nozzle in the Blue Def boxes, I cannot seem to pour without spilling the DEF. They should have left it alone.

Never had a problem with the larger fuel fillers at truck stops with our 15 Silverado, Duramax. We do have a 50 gal ATTA tank and tend to fill when stopped for the night/disconnected and find cheaper fuel just off the interstates. We use the GasBuddy app on our IPhones to locate the best fuel prices in our area, prices vary greatly from state to state so a little research and planning can save $$ and filling while disconnected some aggravation.

DEF is 68% deionized water & 32% urea. Had a salesman tell me if I added DEF to the fuel of my '05 it would improve my mileage??? I told him it would end up in their service department & not to tell anyone that stupid idea, not necessarily that politely though.
I've bought diesel from every type of station from coast to coast border to border & bought boxes of DEF also & never had an issue with either.
I do however use a diesel additive (Diesel Kleen, Howes, Lucas) 2-3 times a year to kill bacteria, clean injectors & absorb condensation, figure it can't hurt.

I wasn't clear on my question to George... We started with a gravity fill and quickly changed to a pump, because the other didn't work well.

Thanks all. I still like the price of the RDS tank but reviews are very mixed on the one way valve and gravity fill. Guess I'll save my $$$ up and go with the ATTA for the Roll n Lock.

On another note, one of the best Diesel Fuel conditioners that seems to be a well kept secret is the one from Ford. Cetane booster and cleaner, a quart treats 250 gals and you can get it at Ford dealer parts dept for $9.95. Most places on line sell it for more. I've been using it for almost 50k miles and I, like Danny, will get fuel anywhere I can. I think what the dealer told GipC may have been true a few years ago but now with so many diesel vehicles on the road and more every day, even the little place in the sticks moves a lot of fuel.

One big thing though - if you pull in and see a tanker there unloading or just leaving, I would skip that stop for a while.. if it's your only choice, wait till morning to fuel. When the tanker drops a load it stirs up whatever is in the tank.

With the F350 you can upgrade to a 50 gallon fuel tank instead of the 37 gallon. price changed out is about 1grand.
