Here is MY LIST of the Redwood friendly sites.... OUR favorite loop is the 700 , you are right at the boat launch, Crockets Tavern.. It is an easy loop to navigate with the BIG RIG..
701 -
702 -
704 -
705 - ** DO NOT TAKE THIS SITE... EXTREMELY HARD BACK IN, VERY TIGHT TURN... DO NOT TAKE
706 ( VERY EASY BACK IN, I WAS IN THIS ONE THIS YEAR -
707 #2 pick -
708 #1 pick ! -
709 #3 pick

802 , 805 , 812 , 852 , 856 ,
610, 612, 404, 408,

If you have the occasion to talk to Mark again at Golf Carts of Orlando, tell him you know me and I said to take care of you... he is a great guy, and the one I have been using for some time!

As far as hook ups, Disney usually has the pedestal located in the middle of the site, that makes hooking up very easy ! the cable will be easily ran to your camper.. I am NOT sure that you will get satellite as there are many trees, I have never tried it. They now have free wifi in all loops that works very well, perhaps you can try to stream movies??
when traveling weather I unhook or not depends on the site, and the time I stop.. Sometimes I unhook, and we go get dinner, and fuel if its early... Or if the site is really unleveled front to back, I may unhook to sleep more evenly..

Joe - What is your opinion of the 500 loop on the outside by the canal? We will be in a 31SL (35 ft). I also notice that the sewer connection is at the back for many of the sites...need to have plenty of hose.

Danny, ALL the sites I stayed in had 2 sewer openings... 1 near the rear, and 1 mid way back.. that was never an issue..

The 500 loop is ok, could be a bit tighter to navigate.. I forgot to list that loop above..523 , 546 are the only 2 in that loop that would fit a full size RW..
also add - 1407, 1429

John, before trying the furnace, fire up the cooktop to purge the gas line if it's not been used, otherwise the furnace may not light. After it tries to light 3 times it will time out & you'll have to turn it off a wait a while before trying again.

If you're traveling on I75 there shouldn't be a problem with Fuel, there are Pilot/Flying J's all along that route, not to mention TAs and Loves.

You go for it! Get as much time as you can, as you don't get it back!

Because we were vacationers, we would often rip across the country to get where we wanted to be, and I would ask for pull throughs. If the truck fit, great, if not, the Redwood is actually very easy to disconnect and reconnect, not like our old 5ers before that.

Hey Joe?
I was looking at your site recommendations and I also got the Fort Fiends app. I understand from your recommendations that 708 is the number 1 pick. My only worry is that fort fiends shows it as extremely difficult to back in. Any idea why

Thanks
John

Hello John... I can only tell you what I have found there. This year we were slated for # 705, I told them I could not jack the RW in there they told me to go there and try. I drove there, backed in the site across from it ( pictured below) and called them. 5 minutes later they were there on a cart looking.. The guy said, “ your not getting that in there !”

The site below is # 706, very large, left gradual back in site... The #1 site is # 708, it is directly past 705 on the same ( right) side of the road. That is also a gradual back in site.

I know you weren’t... Just remember that they will not guarantee a specific loop, or site...

Hi Paul,
If everything goes according to plan, we will arrive December 19th and will be moving over to ThousandTrails on December 27th. We would have loved to stay but alas there was no room at the inn. Haha my first Christmas Joke!

Sure seems like it 🙂
Tracy and I are both seasonal cast members and I am assigned to the Grand Floridian. They usually schedule me 3 or 4 days a week and about 6 hours a day. Never had a job that was so fun.

Would love to meet you while you are here. I can share a lot of Disney tips as well if you need them. Fort Wilderness is one of the best campgrounds in the US, but they do know how to pack the rigs in. The nice thing is once you are set up you won't need to drive anywhere. Disney transportation is amazing (other than crowded especially when you're here) but you can get anywhere you need to go.

We will also be moving over to Orlando Thousand Trails for about a week about Dec. 28 so will most likely see you over there.

I think the Orlando TT is a very nice campground and they are currently upgrading all sites for 50 amp service. You're about 8 miles from WDW and you won't have to use the parking lot I-4.

That sounds great Paul. We will try to get over and see you at the Grand Floridian. If we don't we will try and find you in Thousand Trails. Here's hoping for some nice weather.
