We have an appointment at Morryde on Tuesday to have the IS suspension installed and am trying to figure out the best route to travel from Indianapolis to Elkhart. Last year we took I65 to Angola then hwy 20. Last year hey I65 was very rough. Thinking of taking I65 out of Indy then over to Marion, IN and pickup hwy 15 all the way to Goshen then hwy 33 to Elkhart. This route seem substantially shorter than the Indy to Angola to Elkhart route. However, my biggest concerns are low clearances. Has anyone driven hwy 15 and 33?
Hello Carl and Patti,
We live in Elkhart. I would take 465 on the east side of Indy and get off at the Meridian street area getting onto US 31 N. That would take you all the way to the US 20 Bypass near South Bend. Take US 20 bypass East to the SR 19 North exit. Take SR 19 N for a few miles and turn east on Lusher Avenue, which is right before the train viaduct. Lusher Avenue is a truck route and all clearances are fine. Cross Main street and turn left , North, onto Sterling Ave. and then to MorRyde which will be on your right hand side.
