This is our first fifth wheel with hydraulic leveling. It is leaking around during what appears to be an Allen screw at the top of one of the rear cylinders. Can this be tightened, replaced, or is it some type of pressure relief. I know I will have to get all the pressure of the system before I do anything.

It is a plug because that port isn't used. It has an o-ring on it. If it continues to leak after being tightened it is likely that the o-ring is damaged. These landing gear / leveling jacks can be plumbed several ways. The way our Redwoods are plumbed the extra ports are plugged. Best time to tighten would be when the jacks are retracted and the Refwood attached to your truck.

Thank you for the quick response. Where can I get a new plug?

Looking at your picture it appears that the hydraulic line has fluid in the connector also? Could this be a leak?

I watched while the wife lowered the jacks. It's coming from the plug. I would hope they would last longer than 2 years. 🙂

I see that also... i wonder if the fluid on the outer casing is residual splatter/spray fro the connector??

I would bet you don't need the plug but just an o-ring.

An auto parts store (similar to NAPA) could have the o-ring. That would be my first go around. Kudo's on spotting the leak. In four years with my RW I haven't inspected the cylinder hydraulic lines at the cylinders. I've put that on my check list for this spring when I take our jewel out of storage.

Thanks, replaced the O ring today. I could see a nick on it when I removed the plug.
